My new Grendel

You all (here and on SH) convinced me to go with Grendel Hunter. Just ordered it. They are out of BCGs, but that can come later.

I ordered this one:
19″ Fluted/Target Crown] 6.5 Grendel – Stainless

I have a new Weaver Tactical 3-15 EMDR to mount.

Nice rifle, looks pretty sharp too. I've been using the Starline Grendle brass in my rifle, it's been working well, but I think the capacity is a little less than Hornady. What powders are you planning on starting off with?

Well I need the BCG. Then I willl look at factory loads. I can hand load as I have all the equipment. Maybe sometime soon. I am fortunate to have a store near me that stocks more reloading stuff than I have ever seen anywhere else. You name it, he has it on the shelf.

I have a 16" Grendel and I love it. Though now I'm wishing I had an 18" and am thinking of rebarreling my 9" blackout into an 11" Grendel. It's a superb caliber. I bought the big pack of Hornady american gunner ammo as my brass source. It wasn't much more than starline brass. I'm using tac and 123 grn sst's. They absolutely will drop a pig or deer.

I built a 24 first, then a 16, now I've got barrels for an 18 & 12...and I'm eyeing up a 20.

It never ends.

I haven't even really started studying data. Should be able to use what I have but if not, the local shop usually has plenty of selection. H335 seems to do well and I have plenty of that. I've got the Federal Fusion loads to test to sort of establish a baseline. Then I'll start on handloads with the Gold Dot.

8208 if you got any has proven extremely accurate in a couple of my rifles now, velocity isnt tops, but its pretty bloody good too. I switched to 8208 from cfe223, and thats another good option.

Add AR-Comp to the list as well, I've gotten a little higher velocities than 8208 and equal accuracy. H4895 is also a good performer.

Looks amazing! Any further shooting to report?

I've mostly convinced myself to get a Grendel Hunter, set up almost just like that, whenever they get their BCGs back in.

Hopefully in time to get a load dialed in for deer season.
