20170731_201300.jpg I picked this little gun up a month or so back I was doing some close to a sporting good store . a guy showed up with a gun case I asked him to roll up his windows so I wouldn't get any dust in his vehicle after I was done n blowing off thecsidewalk. I saw the case and asked him what he was getting fixed and he told me and said he was going to trade it in or maybe just sell it I asked him what he was expecting to get out of it and he said he wanted $250.well considering I know what they're going for and I've had one on my Raider for a while I grabbed her up... first time out tonight and she functions great with some old commercial 240 gr lead over 9 gr unique... I do need some different sights.. these are not "precision sights" at all :) I believe it is a keeper though.

Loony,

How do you find that bolt mounted peep? Is it large enough diameter for quick mount and acquisition or is it more attuned to finer work? I actually don't mind the semi-buckhorn factory sight and have killed hogs at 70-80 yards, throwing it up to the shoulder. But I bought the Marbles ghost-ring rear sight and keep wondering if I should install it. Now that peep looks interesting but maybe too small a diameter...

What's your take on it?

I have that bolt mounted peep on my 357 92. i like it very much. It has a little wobble, can probably get rid of that but have not bothered to.

I unscrewed the aperture and use it as a ghost ring sort of. Plenty accurate to 100 yards and very fast. The aperture that came in it was a little too fine for my use, but you may find it to work!

The peeps got removeable inserts (which you can get in a set of other sizes), with no insert in its basically a ghost ring. Ill grab a picture when i get home.
The peep is a little wobbly, i used some marinetex to "bed" it to the bolt so mines stable.

I also filed down the front post to get the correct hight to keep the peep low on the bolt.

In use i find the peep much faster, accurate, and user friendly than the buckhorns.

I didnt notice redbullitts post....he coved it lol
Here a picture of the sight picture thru the insert.

My old peeped lever was a sightomatic, proper cheek weld gave perfect sight alignment, at closer ranges just whip it up and put the circle on the target, at longer ranges it was adjustable and made fools of the naysayers. I really like that lil setup you've got there, I may haveta put it on the list too.

Yeah, i love this little gun. Way more fun than it should be.
Im betting Pauls is even funnerer...i envy both the caliber and price that one lol.

Ive considered tossing a little red dot on, so i tried my contenders mount and my trs25.....still like the peep better

An excellent and rather fortuitous acquisition for you, especially at that price! Love the 16" barrel on my Rossi Model 92! Very handy and quick to get it on target. Might have to get me one of those peep sights.

I bought a stainless steel 92 last fall in .44 mag with the 24" octagonal barrel to use in pistol cartridge silhouette. Put a Marbles tang sight on it and a Lyman hooded front sight and was ready to go shoot silhouette this year but the range where the matches were held quit having them. So it sat in the gun cabinet until this spring and I loaded up some ammo for it and have taken it out a couple times to shoot. I really like the rifle and bought a .44 mag revolver to go with it. A few years back I had a 92 in .357 mag with the 24 inch barrel and it was extremely accurate, but like the dummy I can be sometimes, I sold it. Now you can't find that model at all, this one is a keeper.

A club about 45 minutes away hosts a cast boolit silhouette match and they have a category for the pistol cartridge carbines and 22 lever/falling block
... I want to try it

Mine has the Marbles tang mounted peep and I swapped out the front post for the fiber optic sold by Steve's gunz. I really like the combination and with the huge range of adjustability with the tang peep post height is not an issue. The fiber optic is especially nice in low light conditions.

I've got the same model, 16" SS small loop.
I used the factory mount to put a small red dot on top and slinged it up.

It's been my "working carbine" it's capable of taking any animal I'd come across and its a pleasure to carry around. It feels like a 22 in hand it's so light and balanced.

Mine will put all five rounds of my handloads into one hole at 75 yards which is phenomial as far as I'm concerned.

My Rossi is .45 Colt and I love it! Bought it used but like new in the box with all the paperwork. Wanted it in .45 Colt as I already have three single actions in that caliber. It didn't require any extra work to be done to the action as it was already as slick as could be. So far I like the semi-buckhorn rear sight though I might just look into one of those peep sights to see how it goes. What I like most about it is how compact it is and how quick I can bring it up on target.
