What do you guys think?

I think that is a personal matter between you and your LADY. If you can afford to purchase more weapons and still meet your financial oblations then see if you and your LADY can't come to some sort of an agreement about the size of your collection. If you are spending money of weapons that should be spent or saved for needed items than IMHO no more guns.

Bobson: Yes, but if they hide our wallet before going to a show, she realizes that not having a driver's license (if I were crazy enough to leave) could be a costly mistake when the blue lights appear in the rear view mirror.

My "Admin Officer" remembers that I sold all three MNs, the Mini 14 and 30, in order to have ready cash for some recent interests (Enfields, FR8).
The gun virus can mutate, but always resists any cure.

When the safe was full, I started chaining guns to the bed frame in the spare bed room. My wife and I came to an understanding. For every gun that comes in, something has to go. Same with her shoes and purses. Problem is, I'm running out of guns I'm willing to part with but my urge for more guns is eating me up.

enough guns........

I too have more than enough, but nearly all that I want............ well said Larry Ashcroft!

any new purchases on my part usually end up in a gift being bought by me for my better half...... :)

After my S.O.'s car was totaled by an idiot that ran a red light, I bought her a Porsche Cayenne Turbo... She's not all that concerned with what I put in my gun safe now, but I think she would have preferred a large carat diamond ring...

This is the first thing that came to mind after reading your title...

Matthew 18: 8-9

8 If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

Hmmm... Wasn't that the excuse that OJ used?

If you refuse to have an ongoing adult conversation with your wife, you will one day (probably soon) end up talking with a lawyer, and in the end it will cost you approximately 50% of what you own.

Not all of us have the financial wherewithal to deal with this eventuality in this manner (do I need to rephrase this in simpler terms?)
A quick Google search shows this to be a $107,000 car.

Hmmmm, most of us who graduate high school can spell "carat" correctly.
You cannot, but you can afford a $107,000 car... Really?
Sorry, but it makes one wonder...

If you have that kind of income, that divorce is going to make two lawyers very happy. :)

On second thought, she bought many nice, small antique Meissen porcelain objects during the years before we met, and sold many on 'FleaBay'.

This is why she seems to partly understand the gun virus. Her predictable comment is this:
"You will always to be able to find them", but seems to ignore price inflation, which can be quicker than the US dollar.

She realizes that the only guns which interest me are those which have not been manufactured since the 40's and 50's, but doesn't really appreciate the fact that interest/prices can suddenly grow.
For example, the CMP seems to have no more 'Service Grade' M-1 Garands right now (you need a spare).

OK, you caught me in a spelling mistake... I figured that the automatic spell checker in Firefox didn't flag it, so I spelled it right... I'm allows one mistake a week, aren't I? For an engineer, I figure my spelling ability is pretty good... :)

Not sure if this proves anything, but I went outside and took a couple of photos of her car. It's not the best photos in the world since it is night and I'm just using a cell phone camera, but you should be able to tell what type of car it is...

Need any other proof?

BTW, divorce / separation is for people who are willing to admit that they made a mistake... I'm not exactly the type of guy who readily admits that he made a mistake...

"Yeah, I know where I'm going... I *intended* to go down this dead-end street..."

We've been together for around 24 years (we hooked up in grad school), but notice that I said "S.O.", not that other 4-letter word...

Perhaps it's not really that she thinks you have too many guns. Maybe what she means is you're spending too much on guns.

If you're spending a lot more on your "hobby" than she does, she may be right. Ditto if your spending time and money on guns/shooting and it interferes with other family priorities (spending time with the video family, vacations, maintenance on the house, etc).

My wife will say something occasionally. Usually she has a point. For example, when I make time on the weekend to hit the range or take a class, but not spend quality time with her. Or I say no to a new couch, but then say I want a new gun or order a case of ammo.

My wife has said this several time but she was the one that bought the last 4 guns....I am now retired on fixed income so my gun buying days are over. I would be tempted by a Finn Mosin Nagant M91 if I came across one for a reasonable price......chris3

Well, there's a good reason for saying "no" to a new couch -- you're the one who is going to get stuck moving it all around while she's trying to decide what furniture layout works best for her... :)

It's not like we ask them their opinion of where we should place a new firearm in our gun safes, right?

If mine told me I had "enough guns" I'd wink at her and say "That sounds like a DARE!"

LOL, I really don't have that problem with my wife, as long as the bills are paid and I take good care of my other responsibilities.

Do this... say to your wife - "tell you what... I promise not to buy more than one or two more... a year..." She ought to be able to live with that. If she can't, then it's really not about the guns. It's about control.

If you can afford to buy a Porsche then your "S.O." probably wouldn't complain about your gun purchasing as finances evidently are the least of your worries.. for us mere mortals however it's a different story..

I agree with the people that have stated that you need an "evil black rifle" seriously though if you hate black just put wood furniture on it.
Also I didn't see a double barrel any where, those are fun:D.
You did come to the right place though we will not only tell you that you do not have enough guns but we will also make suggestions as to what you do NEED.
I would say though that you have plenty of handguns maybe add more rifle or shotguns. or BOTH. I am afraid I am not helping your wife's argument any:evil:.

My collection...well you will need a bunch more sheets than the one you got:)

My wife gave up on me and guns a long time ago. I am leaving all my collection to my Grandsons. I aint got enough Grandsons so kids better get busy....we gotta lot of guns around here!

Sometimes I don't think it is finances, but rather just that you have more stuff than she has... I'm pretty comfortable financially these days... I wasn't always in this condition... At one point in my life, I actually sold blood plasma and ate cold cans of pork & beans to survive... For most of our professional careers though, we've lived well below our means. When a lot of our friends were buying $500-700K houses and paying mortgages on them for the entire 30 years, we bought houses that were never more than $300K and we could pay off within 10 years or less. Plus, I've had some good luck in the stock market over the years... And some bad luck when Billy-Boy Klinton decided to persecute Microsoft...
