Here's my new Remington 700 VTR in .308. I've got a Bushnell Banner 3x9 for now. I'm actually impressed with the scope, for what I paid. Best group so far was 1.5" spread five shots at 100 yards using Swift Scirroco 150 grainers. I wonder if it will accept detachable mags? Will I have to get some work done on it to accept Remi 700 detach mags?

I just wish that the green wasn't so bright. other than that damn fine rifle. I'm planning on getting one in the future

I couldn't tell much on the harmonic side, but I could see a difference in barrel cooling and the muzzle brake really helps snuff out on .308 recoil.

You have set the 308 rifle up nicely.
I bought a VTR in 223 last week. I like it for a farm truck gun; as
it is short enough to be handy and the stock is slim where you carry
it. It has a good balance.
One point of interest- the VTR in 223, 22-250, and 204 will be eligible
for a $50 rebate. For some reason the 308 is not. Perhaps you
could email Remington and ask for the rebate. Tell them you have
big varmits.

The green really isn't that bright, it's the flash that makes it look like that. Mine's been grouping around the same..and I suspect strongly that the weak point is the stock's contact points on the barrel. It's just got way too much flex in the forearm. Wondering about the possibility of cutting into the stock and inserting some sort of aluminum stiffeners...

I have a rem 700vls in .308, with hand loads my best 100 yd 5 shot group has been .6 in, I have shot under 1 inch about 6 times and most have been in the 1 to 1.5 in range, I am sure if I would do my part I could get 1 in or better groups. Try differant ammo or try handloading, you have a great rifle and it can do great things.
