Hey everybody! I've been in the market for an M1895 Nagant revolver chambered in 7.62x38mmR for a while now. I used to remember these guns being cheap as can be, selling sometimes for under $100 or close to.

After searching online the other day however, I've noticed that these aren't particularly easy to find and they prices have nearly tripled.

What I'm wondering is, are these revolvers going to be imported again? Is there any good sources for one? I live in eastern Kansas near Topeka and I am in the market for one. I would prefer a "new old stock" gun that hasn't been fired since the war but I know I can't be picky.

I would love the chance to own one of these neat little guns, but my hopes were dashed recently. Please give me some information on the availability of Nagant revolvers in 2014 and there import status if anyone knows.

Thank you so much!

I'm also interested in purchasing one but not for the current going rate. They seem to be going for $250 in the used market and all of the C&R shops are out of them.

I like mine. I paid $70 for it a few years ago. It is certainly worth more than what I paid, I think.

If only I could do something with that horrible trigger. Sigh.

I saw a couple of crates of them at a recent gun show. Seems asking price was $125?

Can't imagine anyone wanting one of those things.

I dunno BobWright, they are sort of fun to shoot. Sort of like a cap and ball revolver. They are a pretty ingenious design, all things considered, and remarkably well made. Too bad for that trigger... Must be 20# single action, and 50# double action! (hyperbolic humor attempt).

Thought about getting one some time back but couldn't get past that oh so heavy trigger pull.

I'm glad I picked one up last year. Had looked at them earlier & passed, but I'm kind of a collector. The more I thought about them it was a no brainer to get one & a cpl boxes of those funny shells. I have yet to shoot it, but I have many that have not been shot either. They're a cool piece of history. I like they mostly come with holster & accessories too. Keep checking online & armslist and you'll find one in the $150 range. Maybe? It won't be mine though.

I too just had to have one and now I am sorry. I like to shoot my C&R guns and it is a job to shoot even one cylinder full. It is the first gun of any flavor that I am sorry I have.:banghead:

Given the numbers made, there may well be a warehouse somewhere in Russia full of them.

However given the current political situation the odds of a shipment of pistols leaving from Russia being allowed into the US is not good.

You need to pick up a few spam cans of ammo. Having 2000-3000 rounds of 7.62x38R will change your whole outlook on how much fun these critters are to shoot.

Sad part: I honestly don'lt know if I'm being ironic.

I wish I could have bought one a couple years ago when I saw them for $75 at a gun show just over the state line in Missouri, they also had spam cans of ammo for dirt cheap. At the time the price of a transfer fee didn't seem worth it. Now I can't seem to find one for any less than $225.

The prices have creeped up. I saw one in a LGS today for $229.00. That's more than twice what they were going for a year ago.

I believe the last ones were produced in 1945. Yeah, there were lots. But how many are still out there waiting to be imported? Who knows? How many that are out there now will ever catch the attention of an importer and make it here through all the hassles and red tape?

The era of the world's military infantry arms that can be surplussed out to American citizens is pretty much passed and I'd say we'll be very lucky indeed for any new forgotten arsenals and un-despoiled arms depots that we get access to.

I read somewhere that the new PVRI ammo is loaded very weak. They referred
to a much hotter load but I have been unable to find any more information about. It is a fun pistol with a horrible trigger but hey it turns the wrong way and the cylinder moves fore and aft. What more could you ask for. If anyone knows about the hotter load I would love to try it.

O.K. I spoke a little tongue-in-cheek here. Granted, they are not the most handsome of revolvers, but then what European revolver is? And I, for one, should talk.

I've bought many revolvers just for the education of owning and shooting the thing, though most of my interest has been in the Colt-S&W-Ruger range. But whenever I offered an opinion on a gun, it came from experience.

So, hopefully, I offended no one with a rather caustic remark. Learn, and shoot, all you can!

Nagant Revolver

Always wanted one of these as well and it's a shame to hear prices have gone up. I think the US sanctions on Russia will not help either. Great gun though the heavy trigger pull is because of the cylinder moving forward to create a gas seal with the barrel, really pretty neat design with the bad side effect of being able to hang a few soup cans from the trigger. Made for weird looking ammunition as well http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagant_M1895. I think even if this revolver has gone up a bit in price its still worth it just because it's a weird and cool historical gun.

I sold mine when the economy fell apart. Got all of $75 for it.

They are very cool, but the lack of ammo and my strict policy for no safe-queens made the decision to sell for me.

My next old gun has to be in .38 special.
