We all use particular cartridges tailored to certain narrowly-defined handgunning applications at times. Most obvious? We might buy "cheap" ammo like White Box, Eagle or Wolf just to plink and practice. Maybe a light, fast, hollow-point for close-range personal self-defense. Or FMJ for reliabilty and penetration. A slow-starting heavy, very hard, Keith Semi-Wadcutter for the big bear.

Years ago I had to research protection against undead humanoid blood-suckers. I determined, given the cost of silver, that literally the biggest bang for the lightest bullet and related buck was necessary and comes from a 7.62 x 25 Tokarev cartridge. I get 560 ft.-lbs. from my custom lead core - silver jacket 85 grain FMJ rounds at 1,720 fps. That's striving for .357 Magnum levels at the muzzle. And the gun isn't the worst in the world for such a particular requirement -- the TT-33, the Soviet "1911", is reliable, inexpensive, flat and tolerably heavy for such necessary CCW.

I am confident a round, no less nine fast-fired ones, will stop any two-legged bats. At least that is what I'm counting on. I was just lucky last time...

Been any very-narrowly defined applications in your ammo-bunker and/or handgun arsenal!?

Well in the real world i hunted hogs for many years with a 357mag. After couple hits that were well placed but not getting the intended results I changed to heavy hardcast bullets instead of hp's or softy's. Break a shoulder or 2 and the results change quickly. I like the 7.62x25, it just happens to be very good a round that has no modern companies willing to produce modern handguns for. I too think with some modern bullet designs it would make a great general purpose round but as is tends to bore through arrmor and bodies. Need some modern controlled expansion bullets and factory backing. Just don't get the blood sucking bat cr*p, just stupid.
