I hadn't thought about it till now,but I'm walking in this event tomorrow and plan to carry my SR9c. I haven't found anything saying I can't on their website. From what I can tell on the state website and handgunlaws.us I'm good to go.
Thought someone here might know the laws on this better than me.

I can't help you with your question. I live in Nashville but I can't join you in the walk....gotta work!

...not much help, am I.

I kind of got volunteered for it. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking any laws. I think it'll be fine.

Some states in that region of the country do indeed prohibit going armed while participating in, or spectating at, a public demonstration.

Yours does not appear to be one of them. I can't find any prohibitions, either.

If your questioning it then you have 2 options. #1 don't carry, #2 carry very well concealed. I would go with the former since I know the area pretty well, but if you want to carry that's fine too. If I were to carry it would be a small .380 or 32 acp pocket carried in a pair of cargo shorts. The pockets break up any "printing" that the gun does. Have fun. Don't screw up and end up inside Opryland mills too long.

If your questioning it then you have 2 options. #1 don't carry, #2 carry very well concealed.

Option #3 if you wanted to carry openly to make a point that personal protection firearms help deter crime is to find a orange trainer, or some other colored toy or obvious non-gun.

Unless they have toy gun open carry laws ?

#2 carry very well concealed.

But with a banner or sign saying something like "I am armed for the protection of me and mine."

And pat your pocket if anyone asks.

Might work, might not.

This assumes there is no legal proscription against being armed at public demonstrations in the first place.

Just read the code for Nashville. As long as you're not in a Nashville "park" you're ok.

13.24.440 Explosives, fireworks and firearms.

A.
No person shall bring into or have in his possession in any park any firearms, slingshots, firecrackers, torpedoes, fireworks or other missile propelling instruments or explosives, including any substance, compound, mixture or article having properties of such a character that alone or in combination or contiguity with other substances, mixtures, compounds or articles may propel missiles or may decompose suddenly and generate sufficient heat, sound, gas or pressure or any or all of these to produce rapid flames, combustion or noxious or dangerous odors or sounds such as to annoy any other person or to injure any person or property.
B.
The prohibition against firearms in subsection A. of this section shall operate as a prohibition against the possession of a handgun by a person authorized to carry a handgun pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated § 39-17-1351 within any park owned or operated by the metropolitan government.

BTW, here's the route and it all looks to be on surface streets 0 http://www.yhtp.org/wp-content/uploads/maproute2014III.png
