I thought when my case of Silver bear ammo ran out for my Mak I'd go back to shooting my Glock 19. I thought Mak ammo, with shipping and handling was starting to approach $8-10/box for 50. I thought at those prices I might as well buy WW JHP's in 9mm from Wal-Mart for $ 9.99/box of 50 and skip the shipping and handling charge and the wait.

WRONG! On a cursory visit to Wal-Mart this evening (actually buying some non-gun related items, like food :D ) I noticed the WW JHP's in 9mm were now $ 12.43/50 - almost a $ 3 bump in the last 3 mos.

At those prices, I guess I'll be shooting my Mak for awhile - might be bargain basement Wolf FMJ's, but I can do better than almost $ 13/box. heck I remember paying that for .45 ammo!!!

Or else start carrying my SP 101 or 686+ more often - Aquila .357 ammo for 158 JHP's is still about $ 8/box - so I guess its a good thing I still like revolvers...:)

academy

The academy in College Station has 9mm for under $5 a box of 50. It's Blazer, but it shoots great in all of my pistols.

Shootist

The WalMart in Friendswood at the El Dorado exit from I 45 has 9mm WWB for $4.63 for 50 count boxes. Bought a case on Thursday.

Wow...someone else from Galveston! Haha. I've noticed things in general are more expensive here. Even stupid things...like for awhile the ".99 value menu" at Wendy's had stuff for like 1.19.

I actually haven't bought ammo at Wal-mart yet...I guess I'll stick with going to Academy (even though their prices aren't that much better.)

Hey Bones...

Yeah, I know that Wal-Mart - I pass it every day going home from Houston. I figure I'll stop in and check it out. They seem to have a good selection.

Shootist- It would be great if you could tell me which walmart you go to when you post how much the cheap ammo cost there. I have been looking for a good deal on ammo in houston.

All the Wal-Marts in the country raised all of their Winchester prices across the board about two weeks ago. Our WWB 100 round went from 11.34 to 11.98 a piece in this price change, it may be more where ever you are at.

Ammo is up a lot, all over the board
I used to get cases of S&B 1000 9mm 115grn for about 115 bucks last year
I bought some more saturday it was 134 dollars

25lb bags of shotshell for reloading used to be 16.99 or 17.99 at Sportsman warehouse, after Jan 1 it's now 20.99

.223 used to be about $189 or $199 a 1000 for suprlus, now it's 239 bucks when you can find it.
No inflation my a$$.:cuss:
Buy it cheap and stack it deep
it's only going to get more expensive.

Are you sure those aren't for 100 round "value packs"? Ours here is 11.59 for 100 rd packs.

That's what I was going to say! Sounds like reloading is getting more and more economical.

Shootist - get off the island and head toward Houston. I bought 200 rounds of WW 115 FMJ for under $21, out the door with tax, this weekend in the local Wally World...

Regards,

Kevin

Wholesale prices are raising. It should trickle to everyone as they reorder ammo. I ordered 20 cases of Winchester Ranger today and was given the news.

We were warned about it back in the early part of February. At that time it we were warned that it would be 6% immediately and another 6% in the Spring.

Think progressive reloader!

Last year Bass Pro put UMC & Remington 9mm for $4.99/box...last weekend went on sale again, this time $6.99/box. Fortunately, I still have ammo boxes full of last years stuff.

I reload 45acp, 38spl & 32S&W Long...I may have to add 9mm soon.
