Need a gun for my boyfriend

I need help picking a gun for my boyfriend. He has applied for his CCL and will soon need something to carry. My father and brother got me into pin shooting, and I like 1911s. He has tried carry versions of 1911s, some DA autos, and a couple DA revolvers and a Glock. Despite having large hands, he says he likes a small frame revolver best. But he handles a Glock 19 as well as either of the revolvers. What do you think he should get for concealed carry?

Well, boyfriend guns are a serious question. I tend to recommend something that will take them down when shot through the shoulders. If you go for that method, a heavy bullet with a lot of penetration is the key.

On the other hand, if frontal shots are the preferred hunting method, something with rapid expansion and adequate penetration is the way to go. This usually means high velocity and lower bullet weight. :neener:

In all seriousness, my answer to "what should HE have"? Would be similar to "what should SHE have": something the user is comfortable with, can shoot well, and will carry.

I would say that someone needs to be appraised of the straw purchase regulations.
 
Are you absolutely set on a revolver, because I am about 6'3" and have very large hands but my CCW is the GLOCK 30. Its a .45 super reliable, great shot and a lot less heavy (in my opinion) than most revolvers.

Can't go wrong wtih a GLOCK ;)

In all seriousness though, same way for a girl. Let them start out and try the variety. Try and steer them away from the bigger more powerful guns till they can handle a 9mm or something similar.

Uh how is buying a handgun for a boyfriend as a gift a straw purchase? You may be the one who needs to be appraised of straw purchase regulations.

Anyways go with the Glock 19 if it is what he shoots well. Many new shooters go with Glocks because they are easy to operate, reliable, accurate and competitvely priced.
 
OK, time to explain. This was a test of sorts. The somewhat common "what gun is best for my wife" threads bring up lots of questions. Why doesn't she ask/decide herself, why do you want her to buy something that she doesn't like, and the like? So I thought I would see if the answers would look the same if the genders were reversed. I thought about registering as a fictional female and doing it that way, but I felt deceitful enough doing it like this.

Anyway, the answers seem to indicate people make up their minds irrespective of the sex of the shooter. Thank you, and I am sorry for the trickery.
 
Well, Griz, even though you have already revealed your trickery, let me just say that all real Men should shoot all black guns, in .50 GI, with ivory grips (not pearl, thats for pimps) that have gold inlaid eagles engraved onto each side, with the eagle talons grasping the monogram of the man. Women should only be allowed to shoot pink guns, that have cute cartridges, with grips that have hyacinth flowers silkscreened on to them. Men that let their women pick out guns for them should be reduced to carrying pepper spray in thier aprons, if even that.


And for gods sake, I am kidding.....
