I just picked up a new Sig Sauer P320 compact and man does that sucker shoot low.

After googling, I read that Sigs come equipped with "combat sight pictures" which are meant to cover up the target. So I brought it outside and covered up the 6" plate with my front sight at about 15 yards and was hitting it about every other time. Could of been more but I couldn't see the target!

I understand its not a "target gun" but I think covering up a target is a stupid concept and would like to switch up the sights to the "pumpkin on a post" sight picture but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out how to raise the poi with all of Sigs # sights. My front sight says #8. Rear says nothing.

Any Sig Sauer people here that can help me out? Thanks

Going to a shorter front sight (or filling it down) will raise the point of impact. Also when we T&E'd the 320 as our possible new duty pistol it shot PoA/PoI. I'd pick up a set of standard night sighs from any of the major manufactures and see if that will solve your problem.

Not a "Sig man", but Brownells site has a real handy online sights correction calculator, start from there. Measure your front and rear sight heights and compare them to what aftermarket manufacturers do offer - unfortunately, Sig does not seem to offer a lower than #8 (they should be #9, or #10) front sight for P320.

I would call Sig because your pistol should not be shooting that low. It's possible the wiring sights were installed. My P320 Compac has a #6 front and #8 rear sight and it shots slightly low @15 yards with 115gr ball ammo. The number on the rear sight is on the right side of the blade, take look there.

Dawson precision has a good POI/sight calculator also. Remember that Dawson measures height from the slide and SIG measures from the bottom of the dovetail. You should be able to correct it with a shorter front sight. I like my rounds to hit just above the front sight also.

I got #8 front and #8 rear on mine, brand new, ordered through my lgs. I've tried 115gr and 124gr benched at 20 yards and the groups were nice, but about a foot+ low with a 6 o'clock hold.

Good info, thanks

Man I don't think I could get a lower front sight than the #8 that's on it, its pretty low. I'd have to get a higher rear sight instead. They're #'s have me a little confused. Higher the # higher the sight?

Might just have to send it to Sig... Hard to do when you get a new gun you want to play with. Thanks for the help guys.

Not exactly. Their numbering system isn't geared toward geometry, but toward being user friendly.

The higher the number, of either the front or the rear sight, the higher the POI

I'm having a hard time with shooting my P226 Legion low too I know it's me. I can't get used to aiming so high especially after I shoot a revolver before I pick up the 226.

This.

After you have somebody else shoot it just to make sure that it isn't you.

For gosh sake man. You just got the gun. Spend some time with it. Let others shoot it. I have seen this same thing happen so many times over the years and so many times, nothing wrong with the gun at all. It is a new gun, maybe your grip is different. People send in new Firearms way to often for just the most minor things. Maybe you just need a new sight. Maybe you just need to get use to the gun a little more.

All my SIGs shoot POA=POI (combat sight picture where the front sight is centered in the bullseye).

I replaced the sights on my P226 Legion SAO with a adjustable rear sight and a fiber optic front sight and changed the sight picture so that it is more closely aligned with my other guns. I bought an LPA sight from Midway.

I did not want the fiber optics in the rear, so I broke them out and now have the blackened rear sight and the fiber optic front sight.

Sigs take awhile to get used to. Personally I don't care for combat sights but that's what is on your pistol. If you aren't used to combat sights the low POI will bite you. I would run a few hundred rounds thru it before I passed it off to Sig. They are likely going to tell you it shoots to POA.

I sold a P-220 to my neighbor because I never could get used to the combat sights. He shoots it just fine. I have other Sigs that I shoot pretty well. SRT helps.
