Here is a table of the EOTech HWS (holographic weapon sights) I might be interested in. WHAT I want would be defined as a row having no red letters in any column. That is RED = bad!

In other words, what I want, in column order is:

low height - closer to barrel axis is better
Night Vision (NV) compatible - why not, for a few tens $ more?
Left side buttons - so you can still reach these buttons when 3X, 4X magnifier or NV monocular is added

I can't find an EOTech model that has everything I want. PLEASE HELP! Am I missing a model somewhere??

I also want lowest price. I am NOT considering the "XPS" series - they cost more and are not released/available yet.

I AM A PROUD TRAILING-EDGE ADOPTER!

No, it actually isn't, if you are going to put it on an AR-15 or something similiar.

All of the EoTech's are designed to co-witness with the front sight on an AR flat-top.

Get it too low and it won't.

You also won't be able to get your head down low enough on the straight stock to see through it.

Then you would need to add a riser to get it back up high enough to use it.

okay, so...you want an EOtech that will do everything? According to the chart, it ain't happening.

I'd say start looking at higher-end aimpoints and/or ACOGs.

Oh, I guess I shoulda mentioned, I am mounting this on an FNAR (FNH-USA .308 semi-auto). Its Picatinny rail is 10" long and is the highest thing on the rifle, unobstructed front and rear. It sits about 1/4" above the top of the receiver and the barrel axis is about 5/8 - 3/4" below that. This rifle comes from the factory with no iron sights, front or rear. Nothing to co-witness with.

I have heard of the "heads-up" concept for sights. Keep both eyes open for situational awarness and all that. I have tried it with another similar sight and can do it, though it'll take some getting used to.

If both of you say so, and EOTech built it that way, I guess I won't worry too much about sight height versus barrel axis height....

Uh, let me go see how high my present scope sits on this same rifle. Maybe it would be more natural to have the sight the same height as the scope (not that they would be used at the same time, of course).
