I've ahd my Star BM for quite a while but it has a small problem. The round stop for the slide stop was installed a little low in the frame so it allows the slide stop to rise prematurely locking the slide back. I bought a replacement frame online for 30 bucks. I just detail stripped the old frame and I'm trying to reassemble the parts in the new frame. WHAT IS THE MAGIC INVOLVED IN GETTING THE HAMMER BACK IN THIS DANGED THING??!?!?!!??! I CAN NOT get that small hammer strut to stay straight to push down the plunger on the heavy main spring to get it lined up to put the pin back in.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: To avoid smashing it to bits with a real hammer I'm hoping you guys can share your experience with me as to how to put it back in.

It helps to have a third hand, or a friend, to push the pin in while you use both hands to push down on the hammer and hold the strut in place. I've only had to take a Star apart once, and I don't want to make a habit of it.

New frame? I would've simply trimmed the part of the slide stop that engages the follower to prevent premature slidelock.

You may have done that but that wouldn't fix it. It isn't the slide stop that sits too low its the peg in the frame that the slide stop engages. The slide stop would slip off the peg and engage the slide lock every few shots. There was no issue with how it engage the follower. It would be like a 1911 if the plunger tube was too low to engage the slide stop properly to keep it from popping up under recoil.

Well, like many frustrating projects I gave it a break for a while and I made another attempt tonight. For some reason it took me about 5 minutes to do it this time. I got it all back together and all seems well. I'll have to take it to the range and put a few mags down range to know for sure but at least my BM is back. Boy do I wish someone still made these things though. A new one with a modern alloy frame would be a superb carry gun.
