Like the title says I need some help getting info on a rifle I just bought. It has a mauser 98 action and it says ZBROJOVKA BRNO,A.S.VZ.24.
From what I have been able to find on the internet it is Czech and Zbrojovka is the city/plant that it was manufactured. It is chambered in 300 win mag currently. There is also a serial number on it. The rest of the rifle is not original but I figured it would be cool to get some more info on what this rifle started life as.

And I'm going to try to attach some photos:

Yep, it's Czech, well atleast the reciever is anyways:D . Of course it's been heavily bubbaized, err, I mean sporterized. Don't feel bad though, looks to be an excellent setup you have there. The original VZ24's were very robust milsurps and it's actions have a great reputation for strengh and build quality. Lot's of big bore setups based on that action. The original rifles used a straight bolt. Let's see If I still have a pic.

Thanks for the reply. I just took it to the range and was very pleased:)
Everything other than the action appears to be Kimber, including the stainless fluted barrel, so whoever did this to the rifle spent the money to do it right. Thanks for the pic it is nice to see what it started out as.

It's a bastard, but I like it :D

If anyone sees this post while looking for info on Brno try doing a search for VZ24 it will bring up some more info.

ZBROJOVKA is the Czech word for factory. Brno is the city where the factory is located (although the Brno factor was actually a pretty big concern and some may have been made elsewhere)

I appreciate everyone giving me info on the rifle. Is there anyway to figure out about what date the action was made from the serial number?

I don't know about finding out a manufacture date from the serial#, but you might find out from the receiver's markings. However, if there's a year stamped on the action, it'll probably be covered by the front scope base.

There are at least two ways those were marked. A) Lion crest. B) Year (mine's dated 1940).
