I've got a Rock Chucker. It's an old one. I need to know exactly what model Rock Chucker this is. Is there anyone here familiar enough with RCBS who could tell me, without a doubt, which model I have?

Any help would be appreciated.

"RC" - Rock Chucker. AFAIK they don't demark sub-models, but they did stamp Year on the top next to the die thread/bushing (if so equipped).

Well, I was incorrect.............and you guys were correct. There WAS something stamped on top. I can't tell for sure if it's "7A" or "74".

I contacted RCBS customer service a couple of days ago and haven't heard back from them.............which is why I asked here on the forum. Any way, I'm thinking it's an original Rock Chucker because falmike is correct, the Rock Chucker II is marked RCII.........which mine isn't.

Mine is marked is marked -RC- , with a 77 stamped on top. I believe its a Rock Chucker from 1977.

Not to derail but if you get a contact for them let me know. I'm not getting any response from their website query page.

Not to further detail, but I tried to email them in January, but it didn't go through. Called them and got a call back in minutes. I'd say call them.

At this point, I'm not all that concerned. From what I've learned here in this thread and another on another forum, I've got a old
Rock Chucker made in 1974. Good enough for what info I was seeking.

My '91 stamped one is cast with RC II in the side. I have another cast the same way, but the date is covered by the die insert.

That green crinkle paint. Is it still used?

Not sure why they use it or even how one creates such a finish. I cannot recall anything else metal painted as such. Most objects are painted with the intent to create a smooth finish.

My press has this finish. Just comments as to my observation. Not intending to state better or worse than alternative finishes.

This is the best I can do....don't fuss about the wrong finish names. My old original RC press looks like the old crackle paint finish on but a bright green. That press has been many miles and is greasy dirty. The RCII has what looks like a hammer tone finish and is a brighter green. Somewhere I got the idea the window in the RCII was larger to accommodate longer cartridges. Doing a quick measure, the windows appear the same.

I got the RCII second handed with a Piggy Back with attached Uniflow. RCBS supplied missing parts when PB was broken down. Got the entire mess super cheap in a pawn shop. I got the idea the RCII was years younger than my old RC. Despite some hot air about other brands, RCBS gear is tops.

It looks exactly like mine, bought around 1972, no stamping s I can see. Awesome press. hdbiker

A few years back I bought a Rockchucker that had a light green paint that looked like powder. I wrote RCBS and asked them if it was original or painted by someone and I was told they used that paint in the 60's. I think it was the 60's but I could be wrong.

Your press looks like the ones sold in the 70's. Those are great presses and very strong.
