Anybody had trouble with accuracy in the Handi Rifles. I got one in .280 Rem and it's the pickiest rifle I've ever owned. The only thing that it likes are 140 grain ballistic silvertips. I like the rounds, but I would also like a few more options. Anyone else had this problemb with these?

I haven't used the rifles, but if their quality is anything like their shotguns, I'd stay away.

I've had a 20 gauge Pardner for a few years...it has been nothing but trouble. Granted, it still shoots (I've never seen a single shot that didn't), but I have lots of problems with the ejector. My old Sears & Roebuck 12 ga. single, on the other hand, cost $60 around the same time and was 100%.

Rossi makes single shot rifles for around the same price, though I don't know if theirs are any better.

the only real accuracy problem i had with mine (223 rem bull barrel) is an 7&1/2 pound trigger pull. i had a trigger job (2 pound 9 oz.) done, and it is much better now. it is just hard to keep it pointed correctly trying to get that much trigger moving.

Same as moooose102 the trigger sucked, but my .223 shot nice groups when I could battle the mighty trigger pull.

My MK2 Ruger likes the 140 grain silvertips best too, shoots about 3/4 moa 5 shot groups with the stuff and will kill anything in north America with em' (except I might want something else for brown bear)

I have an H&R "Varminter" in .204 Ruger (same as NEF-both made in the same factory and both now owned by Remington) that's REAL fussy about ammo. It doesn't like Hornady factory stuff and prefers 40 gr. bullets vs. the lighter ones.

The trigger is a bit heavy - then again, I have several Savages (pre-Accutrigger). :D

ALL break action single shots are that way. In my experience with encores and handi's your situation is the NORM and not the EXCEPTION

On the other hand . . .

I have two NEF/H&R rifles - a 30-30 and a 7.62x39. Both are great shooters!

Of the two, the 7.62x39 is the more accurate. I am, by no means, a good shot, but that 7.62x39 will put 20 shots into a circle 2.5" to 3" in diameter. (I was in a shootin' groove one day at the range, and I did it.) Let me emphasize, I am not a marksman.

While the 30-30 will not shoot as well as the 7.62x39, I can hit 2" most of the time.

I have not worked on either of these guns - these results are out of the box. I do reload both cartridges and both rifles are scoped.

I've had 2 Handi's. A 223 bull that I finally sold because the groups were unacceptable, and a 500 S&W mag. that is for sale now. I've been reloading for almost 40 years and I couldn't get either one to be consistant. I spent alot of money on different bullets, powders, and primers with no results.
