While reading through The Plain Dealer today, I came across something I never thought I would see in this newspaper; a rather large (6" by 11") ad...for Henry rifles!
If you've lived in Cleveland, or northeast Ohio, for any length of time you would know that The Plain Dealer is a rather decidely liberal; unfriendly to firearms, the Second Amendment, the N.R.A., or any aspect of the shooting community; sort of newspaper; and has been for a very long time.
So imagine my surprise today when on page C4 of the Business section, at the lower left corner of the page, is an ad for Henry Repeating Arms. What's even more interesting is that the top of the ad features someones hand on The Holy Bible, with a quote from Henrys president, Anthony Imperato. The quote is: "Henry rifles will only be made in America or they won't be made at all".
Now it could very well be in these times of diminishing readership, and limited advertising budgets, that the PD has been forced to accept advertisements from the the "other side", so to speak. But now I'm a little concerned that this might actually be one of the warning signs of the coming Apocalypse!
At any rate, it still was an unexpected pleasure to see the ad there; it actually brought a smile to my face.
