so i built a new 10/22 in 22lr for my daughter and christmas came early this year. the stock looked kind of neat, but took several hours of carving out the inside before the receiver would fit in it. the receiver and bolt are stainless volquartsen, and the barrel is a carbon fiber volquartsen. it may be the only gun i've ever fired where the center of gravity is behind the action. shooting it offhand feels a lot like shooting my FNH PS90.
anyways, i've attached pics of the gun, my daughter shooting the gun (what a mess!) and her first two strings. targets are 3" shoot-n-sees at 50 yrds. the top target was her first string ever with this gun and it was 10 rounds, but 3 of them misfired (see my lube thread... ). her second string was 5 rounds. not half bad for an 8 yr old.
she likes it a lot, so we're both happy, especially after we stopped shooting paper and went to shooting the cans and exploding targets! (runs in the family i guess ) but the one downside to the stock is that the grip is just a little large for her hand, so she spent the day shooting with her thumb on the side instead of actually gripping it.
