Hey war eagle how is that coach of yours? :D
Everyone was so pissed at him last season I thought they were going to lynch him, good thing they fired him when they did he would be hanging from a tree somewhere.

Yeah that was not a good season for yall, even as a long time Bama fan I felt really bad about that. Oh well look on the bright side things CANNOT be any worse this year.

They should bury him where that tree was and grow a new tree from his rotting corpse. That would be poetic justice :)

You spoiled the test when you changed two things at once (seated primer deeper and changed firearm), but it does sound like a rifle problem. I had a similar issue and adjusted my firing pin protrusion and installed a wolf extra power spring. My reference to redneck engineering was talking about me because I didn't get info on proper pin protrusion, I just adjusted till I liked it. You're shooting a short action cal, but you said this is a 110. If it's a 10 action, let me know; I think I have a wolf 10 spring you could have.

I'm sorry that I was unclear. I had to seat the bullet deeper. It is a 110 action with a long throat. My coal was 2.95 and I changed it to 2.80 else the Rugers bolt would not close.

Thank you for your offer! That was very kind. I was kidding about the redneck thing, I knew what you meant.

OK! Looks like it may be a firing pin protrusion(FP) issue. I got a measurement of .060. From my interweb research .032 is optimal.

What I gather is: The long FP is not allowing the pin to reach max velocity before impact. Lack of momentum.

I'll take it apart tonight and see what I can do.

I got h380, WLR primers and 150grn ballistic tips at the LGS. They where out of cci primers and 120grn prohunters . I'm goin to hit the range in the morning. I'll report my findings afterwards.

I got several 3 shot groups .6"or less. I got 2 less than .4". I only shot one 5 shot group it was .925 all with H380 and 130grn Sie MK's. H380 is very impressive, thanks Kachok! I will post these picks tomorrow

Also, I had no sign of firing pin issues even after 40 rounds.

View attachment 184820 I guess the phone tilted too much and the pic is upside down. I either pulled a bit and/or had to fight parallax. The flier was shot 4 I think. Still, a 5-shot group less than an inch!

I tried to get rid of my parallax by moving the target further away. I could only get 105 yards out of the range safely.

I would suggest you reevaluate your solution to the stock touching the barrel. If the action was properly bedded or pillar bedded, adding a "shim" under the front ring tossed that feature out the window. I own, shoot, and have built(if you can call assembling factory interchangeable parts "a build") some extremely accurate Savage rifles. Stiffening the fore end of the factory stock is often necessary but until proven other wise, an incidental slight contact between barrel and stock under normal hunting conditions is not a big problem.

Thanks Mtn!

@Mobuck: I am not keeping the factory stock or the Redfield 4-12x40 on the rifle. The shim is a short term fix. It will have a Choate stock and a scope with more magnification.

Glad the H380 worked for you too, I love the stuff and will be buying it by the jug once it gets back in stock locally. If you need any more tips with the 7mm-08 or any of the cartridges I have loaded for drop me a PM.
