keybord drowning in drool

WOW!

Didn't know anyone was making a BAR reproduction.

I thought at first you & "Mr. Peabody" had jumped into the "Way Back Machine" and taken it for a spin.......

Now you have to get a class III BAR, and Thompson and you will have the most desired weapons set of all time (ok maybe a M1919, and a M2 and then you'll be set). Very nice set of guns there.

Yeah I've been wanting one of those for a LONG time, but the $3k+ price tag and the year long waiting list has kept me from doing so. That's one sweet looking rig. Range report soon please!

It's not full-auto.

wait that isn't reproduction? that's legit NIB B.A.R.?

Read his description again. It's a semi-auto repro, much like the semi-auto M1919 and M2 conversions out there as also offered via Ohio Ordnance, etc.

No different in paperwork than a 10/22 or Remington 700, in that respect.

I'm assuming the carry handle is either offset or swings out of the way so one can use the iron sights?

I was lucky. I ordered it in January and was told there was one available on the next production run (End of March)due to a cancellation. I think the normal wait is 6 months to a year.

Since it fires from a closed bolt it should be more accurate than the originals.

Very fine rifle indeed. Stock up on ammo.

Range report...... Kind of. It's still raining in the Atlanta area, but I couldn't wait any longer. I took the BAR to an indoor rifle range (if you can call 25 yds a rifle range)! Ran over 100 rds through it in what seemed like a few minutes. At $75.00 for 100 rds of 30.06 (Wally World prices) I gotta get some ammo from CMP, but the wait is like 2 or 3 months now. My son in law and I are going to make the 2 hour drive to CMP South sometime this month. ANYWAY ...at 25 YDs.I couldn't even use the sight as it starts at 100 yds., but slow fired 1" groups right in the center. I know big deal 25 yds. but the surprise was the rapid fire results of 3" groups consistantly up and to the left of center in the same place 40 rds worth. BARbie.(.uh thats what I call her now), sure attracted a lot of attention. One old timer (about my age) said his uncle carried one in North Africa and after I let him hold it, he couldn't believe the weight. He said he has a new found respect for his uncle now. I seriously can't imagine fully loaded down men actually running with this thing, but adreneline makes all things possible, I guess. Well to wrap it up, this is the most fun gun I have ever shot by far! I can't wait to get to a real rifle range and let y'all know what it does at 100 to 700 yds.! :)

man, that sounds awesome. my gun fund just got 3 new letters on the envelope. B.A.R. It had garand on it but my father is planning on buying one so Ill jsut take his from him and make my fund a little larger. you did say about $3800 and a 6 month wait?

did you get it from the CMP? I was plannig a trip there for a Garand but I really want a BAR more. Ill jsut have to push the trip back a bit to save a little more but is that where you got it?

What is the piece of steel on the top of the buttstock?

It really is a shoulder thing that goes up!

It flips up and goes over the top of your shoulder. Kinda hangs there hands off if you're in a foxhole waiting to give covering fire.

It hurts when using it too.

That is nice. I've always wanted one. Just something about how it looks. Went to a gun show two months ago and held one. It was every bit of 20 pounds. I asked the guy if it was new and he said slightly used. It had the wooden stock. He wanted over $4k for it. Can't afford one now, but at least I got to hold it. Good for you that you got it. Keep us posted.

What was your wait time on between ordering and receiving?

That is a gorgeous gun Dude. But, after carrying one for 2 years in the Army I don't want one. I carried the gun, 10 mags, and full field gear, My assistant gunner carried another 10 mags. That is a lot of weight to hump. Loved shooting the old girl though. 800 to 1000 yds. was possible for this old warhorse and woe betide those in the way of it. Traded it in for an m60 and loved that one too.

PS my back still hurts.

Lone, I was told the "normal" waiting period is apx 6 months, but I got lucky when 2 other orders were cancelled due to the guys being laid off.

Macgille, I couldn't believe the weight of the gun when I picked it up. 20 lbs of gun and then the ammo and your gear! How was it to run with? I see old news reels and actual footage of the BAR users and have no clue how they did it.

Are you working on getting a springfield 03A3 and Grease gun to complement that collection  Very nice guns. Some day I want all of those.

I picked up a Finn M27 with matching #s last month and the springfield 1903 is definately next on my list. Unfortuneatly I waited too long and CMP is out until 2010, but the timing should be just about right since my wife is showing signs of battle fatigue. DSC01430.gif
