For those who haven't seen it, the 2017 Hodgdon Reloading Manual hit the shelves today, featuring a new powder: CFEBLK.:what: Made especially for the 300 Blackout! There's a nice leading article by Bryce Townsley detailing the powder with a number of 300AAC loads, and two other articles on using it in the 6.8SPC and in Varmint Cartridges by Lane Pearce and Layne Simpson respectively.

As much as I like my 4227 loads in 300AAC, both sub- and super-sonic, I'm going to have to try the CFEBLK to see if it lives up to the hype. And I may have to get an AR pistol to go with my 16" Blackout carbine....two things I really didn't need, yet another powder sitting around and another gun that doesn't get shot enough.

Yeah, I know, as they say...."First World Problems" :D

Ooh no! I already have 6 powders on hand that are good for the 300. I'm curious how it performs in 357 magnum rifle. I know lilgun kicks some major butt from a carbine!

Well, if it equals the high quality of the other specialty powders released by Hodgdon over the past few years it will probably be a winner. I really like this new move to copper reducing powders and that alone would help this powder win.

I've been looking for a Hodgdon Annual Reloading Manual since I got my last one in 2015. Thanks for the tip, I'll keep a lookout.

Their manual is available on their web site. http://www.hodgdon.com/store/ (but at full price)

You can also order it from plenty of other online vendors if you can't find it in the stores. I know Cabela's has it in their stores and online. It's $7.99 at Cabela's compared to $11.99 from Hodgdon. Brownells has it too and I think it's on sale this week.

And I have 16 lb. of 4227 yet unopened. But I use it in 3 other cartridges. Waiting nervously for your report!

Actually I found mine in the local grocery chain (Dillons/Kroger). And I noticed today that Walmart has them too. Just rush to the nearest large magazine rack where they have Guns & Ammo or Shooting Times and it'll be there.

I will have to look, I didn't think about checking at Krogers. Thanks!

Let me be the devil's advocate here...
Does the world really need another powder just for 300 Blackout? Hardly.
Reminds me of the Varget hype a while ago.

I've found the Hodgdon magazine at Kroger's in the past. I did not look this past Wednesday when we were grocery shopping. (Senior discount day here in east TN :))

I like getting it every year. I usually gain something from the articles and there is usually some new and/or revised data.
