Ok everyone know that the cat is out of the bag so to speak I know it’s limited photos and whatnot but from what you’ve seen give me your thoughts as to Weather or not you think Ruger will do right by the 336 I’ll weigh in shortly

I am confident that it will be of better quality than those cranked out by what was left of Remington.

Since my 336 is a pre-safety JM .35 Remington, and a couple of Winchester 1894’s fulfill the .30-30 needs, unless Ruger brings back the 336Y 16.5” version I don’t think I will be in the market for another one.

Stay safe.

I’m skeptical that Ruger can make and sell them for a reasonable price. Right now I feel like the going rate for a used 336 is in the 600 range and something tells me Ruger will want 900-1100 for theirs, because that’s what every well-made steel lever gun seems to retail for these days. I just don’t see the appeal at that price.

Looks like a fine rifle to me. And I already own two Ruger-Marlins. And owning Ja number of Ms and Rem-Marlins, I can say with confidence the two I own are as good and actually better than any previous similar Marlins. I will probably be in the market for the 1894 in .44 Magnum. I already have several 336 rifles. But, never say never.

Went to the range today and it was a Marlin only shoot out. A few of my favorites got the nod:

I would imagine and hope that in due course there will be several 336 models running the gamut of pricing. I would expect them to be priced competitively with other lever gun manufacturers. That does not mean cheaper than but competitive with for the quality, history and legacy that the Marlin brand brings. The closest Henry model to the Marlin 336 Classic is priced at $1087 MSRP.

For me it’s more the caliber than the model. Put something out there in:

.327FM
.32-20
.38-55 Win
.454 Casull

Any of those would get me to the front of the LGS counter with wallet in hand.

Of course I realize those have limited appeal compared to 45-70 and 30-30 et al. So the wait for them will be a little longer if they’re made at all.

See I think the opposite… I actually, personally, like 30-30 a lot. But it is not by any stretch an “exciting” round and I feel like more buyers would pony up more cash for guns in the calibers you mentioned, vs a 336 30-30. In part because those who like 30-30 probably already have one, or many. But I’m obviously not the target market!

Well the 336 and 1895 share the same receiver so you already know what you’re going to get for manufacturing quality because they are already making it.

For me the only thing that could interest me in buying one would be a 375 winchester. I already have a 444, a 45/70, and 3 35 Remington firearms, and I don’t like 30/30. I have always wanted one and the right opportunity just hasn’t come along yet.

.460 S&W instead of .454 Casull

Hmmm .....

I wonder what the difference is in dimensions between the Remington.360 Buck Hammer and the .357 Maximum?...
A .357mag can be fired in a .357max chamber. I doubt you’ll be able to do so in the .360RBH...

RUGER could score a real coup on Remington .360RBH and Winchester.350 Legend with that!
In a rifle, there isn’t much difference between the .357max and .35Rem due to pressure standards...

The .360BH has a longer case by .2 inches at 1.8 vs 1.6. There is nothing the .357 Max could do that the .360BH could not do better.

not a chance. The 360 is a tapered case and much larger rim diameter
