I got a Colt New Agent recently, put some CT laser grips on it, and have been enjoying it. Today, after about 500 rounds, it locked up. Went to disassemble it and couldn't. The back of the firing pin was inboard of the backplate, and the block was jammed in. I finally got it apart, and on inspection I found that the back part of the firing pin had peened enough that it won't go through its hole in the backplate. In profile, it looked like the crown of one of those opera tophats.

So I called Colt and the guy was very nice. Said he's gonna send me a shipping label. So they're gonna fix it (of course). During our talk I asked him if they ever saw anything like that. He said yes, but wouldn't go into any detail - whether only on this model or others as well.

I'm used to hearing about firing pins breaking, but never distorting in shape. This tells me that my firing pin is too soft. I wonder if that's the spec or if they got some bad parts. Does anyone have any input on this subject? I'm really curious. Thanks.
