Received an email today about the new Beretta rifle, looks pretty interesting. Straight pull with supposedly easy caliber changes with a barrel and bolt head swap. https://www.beretta.com/en-us/product/brx1-black-FA0112
I’d like to see one in person, hopefully they come out with more calibers in the future. I kinda like the bright magazine, easy to find in the field if you drop it.

It can't be too new, as I'm finding articles about a recall of it back from 2021. Still, it looks interesting enough. When it comes to new rifles anything that isn't just an AR variant is good, and even within bolt actions most everything has been filtering down to a Mauser 98 design with Remington and Savage simplifications (ie a tubular receiver with a barrel nut). If it breaks the mold on those things then its at least worth a look.

Bolt appears to be very AR like and very strong. Easy to see that the barrel extension and lug pattern on the bolt are going to be very similar, and also if one notices on the picture below there is a cam race and key in a very similar spot to the Stoner design. The reversable ejection and bolt face changeability (ingenious) and bolt handle is a great addition to the design, allows Berretta to capitalize on both handed shooters with one rifle.

The lack of structure for the picatinny rail on the longish cantilever is a concern for me. This makes the rifle a non-starter for myself considering the otherwise interesting rifle.

That's the first thing I saw too, and pretty much negates the other benefits. Unless it's made from unobtanium, it wouldn't take much to kink it a millimeter one way or the other.

I really wasn't interested to begin with, but after seeing that I am super duper ultra not interested.

Accuracy seems decent for a hunting rifle. It is very different but has some good features. Good option for lefties and people that want multiple calibers in one rifle. It seems to work just fine or they wouldn't make it.

TFBtv had a video about it a year or so ago. Last time I saw anything about it. Maybe it's finally coming stateside?

In Spain many people have one, I’ve a friend with brx1 in 308w and he’s happy with it.

In Spanish forums I could read the most part of owners are happy, and the accuracy is good for hunting rifle.

Honestly I’ve been thinking in buy one for two things:
- It’s ease change the bolt for LH shooters.
- You can buy other barrel and have 2 rifles in one…

But need to think well because I dont feel safe with the “ straight bolts” ( I don’t know if I wrote well)
Really is a good gun for typical Spanish hunting “montería”

From a safety standpoint they're fine. In a lot of ways they're like a semi-auto gun with no gas system. The bolt is still turning and locking its just that there's a mechanism like a bolt carrier that you're operating with the handle that's camming the bolt, rather than you directly turning it yourself. Now they can lack some extraction force if there's a malfunction but that's not a safety issue.

No experience with the Beretta here but I've got a straight pull Swiss K31 that I've shot a good bit and it works great.

I guess my fear is for I read time back problems with blaser R93 , it’s true only was occasional when the people shooted in magnum calibers the bolt flew back.

I’m thinking in buy one brx1 but I prefer wait time and see the experiences with it, later , my plan could be buy 30-06 and 6.5 creed.

Not sure about the 22" barrel on the .300WM. If I'm going to deal with .300WM recoil it's because I want the velocity. I'd think there are better options than .300WM if I really don't want to deal with a 24" barrel. Also, I'd think they need to bring more chamberings to market if caliber switching is one of their selling points. Or at least make it easy to buy barrels - and advertise that. Could be a lot of fun to get a rifle with one of the standard bolt face diameters and just buy a few barrels.

I like the idea of straight pull. I would like to handle one of the Savage Impulse rifles at some point but have not yet seen one in a store to handle.
