New Colt Pythons in blued steel

Nice. Looks like they stuck with the Python look. I had one of the original Colt's but also owned a Smith 19 with all the factory bells and whistles. I liked a couple of the 19's features better than the Python's and when a guy I worked with decided he wanted a Python I sold mine to him for exactly what I paid for it.

I still consider the Python to about the most attractive revolver I have ever seen. It's little brother, the Diamondback is just a slightly smaller replica and I own one. It's a beautiful little gun with cheesy grips, not in looks but in function. They have sharp enough edges to be annoying plus they wiggle a little on the frame. It's value prevents me from altering it from original.

The Python didn't have this problem and I hope the new one's don't. I have not see the new blued ones but the last gunshow I attended was covered up with stainless Pythons and King Cobras. There was also one old blued Python with not great bluing left and it was priced at over 3 times what the new ones were. I would liked to have taken one of the King Cobra's home but twisted my arm hard enough to leave with only an old Bushnell ScopeChief in hand.

The 4" looks better with 2 slots in the rib. All the pre-release press stuff I've seen has 3 and it looks weird.
That's a 5-inch barreled model. The 4.2-incher retains the two slots.

Then again, maybe it's not a 5-incher after a review. Maybe a prototype.

Again more review of sites; maybe 4.2 barrels exist with two and three slots.

Believe it or not, my 6” Colt Diamondback came with Pachmayr presentation rubber grips from the factory. No Colt medallion, just plain comfortable rubber grips. I picked up a pair of Herrett Shooting Stars for it and later robbed a set of factory stocks from a 4” Diamondback .22 because they looked so nice. Sold the 4” with the Herretts. (Still kicking myself for that, not to mention the 4” Diamondback .38 I also let go ☹️)
