New Colt Pythons in blued steel

My old Python was a blued 4". I didn't love it, other than it's looks. When the hand broke, it wasn't a big deal, but it made me not trust it as much as other guns I had, like my S&W 28-2 and Dan Wesson 15-2's, so I took the nice offer over what I paid for it about 18 months earlier from a guy I worked with who had a bunch of them. But this one looks really nice...

Sportsman's Warehouse is already sold out. I'm Going to wait it out for the price to drop below MSRP. Might be a while, but I expect they will be selling for around $1475 in a few months, maybe a year tops. The 2024 blue Pythons I found on gunbroker are exorbitant.

Edit; Spelling!

Same here, No rush, but definitely getting one

I can't get Colts wholesale unfortunately. They won't allow them to be sold to home FFLs from wholesale distributors. Colt literally sends reps to prospective shops to give approval to sell their wares.
I suppose I could try, but it would most likely be waisting my time and theirs.
A lot of companies still cling to the antiquated "brick and mortar" sales mentality. I haven't decided if this is a good or bad thing. Either way it is still a thing and no wholesale Colts for me and my buddies.

Regarding the new blued Pythons, folks have been clamoring for such
for years now. As they get them, I wonder how many will shoot them
just a little and then turn them into safe queens, leaving most of their
shooting to the stainless versions or the S&W 686s and GP100s.

Who here would buy one right now. If it was on the shelves???
No different than the finish on a 586. I won't rush out an buy one since I have the stainless versions.

Now that "Royal Blue" 1911 they offer, thinking about it. The only issue with it is it looks to nice to be a range weapon. Maybe put a few rounds through and then who knows...

Too nice? That has never made sense to me.

that Royal Blue Colt 1911 is hard to find!

I probably would not buy a Blue if you already have the stainless

When the "new" Python came out, I must have been near the front of the line to get one. Since then I've bought two others, (and sold the original 6" one). I'm one who said "I wish I could have gotten a blue one, but now that blue is available, I find myself not really excited by it. Nothing against the gun at all, I think it looks great and I'm glad to see it's available, but I've got two of the SS versions, and the idea of getting another one, just doesn't excite me like I thought it would.

I like to say, when you want a Python, nothing else will "scratch that itch." I guess the SS ones "scratched that itch" for me, and I'm quite happy with them. Maybe that will change when I see one live and in person, but for now, I can wait.

For the 4 inch model… all the promo pictures from online media and big box stores shows a two slot vented rib but all the videos or pictures I’ve seen online of actual guns show a 3 slot vented rib. What gives? I’m aware that “it doesn’t matter” and I’ll still buy one. but why did they change the rib spacing for the first time ever?

To each his own I guess. There are things in life that one should use like you stole it, and others that you like to keep in nice condition without wear...

I've been seeing a few turn up lately. One of the instate dealers has one on the broker for 1999.....yikes.
Maybe I'll just "settle" for stainless after all.....

Pre-release models had 3 slots; production now has the correct 2 slots. From what I've seen.
