Today my local gun store I found the CZ 912 I've been looking for. As I understand it, CZ USA imports these guns from the Turkish manufacturer Huglu. The 912 is an improved version of the 712. It's a 12 ga semi-auto 4 + 1 capacity. The 712 has the return spring on the mag tube and the 912 had the return spring in the buttstock. it's too hot out today to take this thing for a spin, but I cycled it with some 12 GA snap caps. I'm noticing that the ejector doesn't knock the snap caps out of the ejection port when I hand cycle, but I'm assuming under normal operation this hopefully isn't a problem. I haven't stripped it all the way down, but all of the visible innards and external parts look well made. I'm going to use this gun mostly for clay shooting as a companion to my Mossberg 500. I'll post some pictures when I get around to it. Hopefully it will cool off this week and I'll have a chance to try her out.

How's your 912 working out? I stumbled across them while thumbing through a catalog and was intrigued. I'd love to see some pics and hear a bit of a range report.

I've only had it out once, and it while it's a comfortable gun to shoot, I did have lots and lots of ejection problems. BUT I'm quite sure that I caused the problems. When I got it home from the store I put some gun rail grease on all of the moving parts in the receiver and I think I was causing enough drag that the spent shells were having trouble ejecting. Further proof of this theory is that after about 50 shots the situation began to improve. After 100 shots it had mostly cleared up. With some help from the fine folks on the shotgunworld forums I was able to detail strip it and get the grease cleared out. The self imposed FTE issues aside, it was an accurate and fun to shoot gun. The 912 has the recoil system in the butt stock and the 712 has it up front. For as light as the 912 is, having the recoil system in the butt stock gives you a surprisingly soft recoil. The only complaint I have heard from one of the guys on shotgunworld was that the hammer on his 912 broke, but that was after many troublefree (based on his account) shots. My understanding is that CZ-USA took care of his issue.
