Hello hunters!
I had a great deer season this year, tagged out this weekend and then I got something special from KDWP in my inbox.
Never been drawn for a special hunt, I'd thought to tag another deer in antlerless but the drive to my spot is 6 hours round trip. This makes for half the drive time and something more special than just another doe.
For anyone who didn't see my hunt pictures, here are the best shots from season.
I took two new hunters, and the extra rifle you see. We needed it, one rifle lost zero from a damaged scope mount (Amazon optics are Amazon optics I guess) so I ended up taking a deer with both rifles to loan the other one out. Good shots on both deer for conditions given. A spine shot at 125yds on my doe from standing through the trees. And a 75yds shot through the back of the ribs up through the lungs on a running buck. Pretty minimal meat loss except the back strap on the doe due to the spine shot being higher than anticipated. Small bodied deer hurt my meat take though so on to the next one with this upcoming special hunt.
If anyone else drew a special hunt over there let me know if you need help packing your deer, I'm going to have to get my external frame out and ready to go!
