Hey guys, just thought id share some info I found about the 870p. I was browsing gunbroker and stumbled upon a 870p with a shiny blued finish, thinking to myself ""wow you dont see these much anymore". Well to make a long story short, I ended up calling Remington to ask some questions about this 870p because the gun broker seller wouldnt respond. First I inquired about it manufactuer date, Remington's reply was "its a 2009 model". I thought this was rather odd because I havent seen any polished blued 870p model since the 90's or so. I asked if this was a new or limited production Remington has come out with, he speculated that its a 2010 870p production, saying this is the new finish option. He said its not a polished blueing like you would see on a wingmaster but something else (I cant remember), but it does resemble a polished blueing. I also mentioned the rumor going around about new 870p magnums not having a metal trigger gaurd, he said thats correct, and the shotgun on gunbroker I inquired about DOES HAS a plastic trigger gaurd. (The plastic triiger gaurd isnt a big deal, im just trying to get some facts straight is all.) Also, note the chrome bolt installed as well http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=133603321 Its like Remington is producing a replicate of the 1990's era 870p.

I dont know about you guys, but im actually excited about the new blue finsh on the newer 870p. I'll wait for more to hit the market, and them ill buy one. We all know how rare those 1990 era 870p's are, but as long as the newer model looks the same I dont mind its age one bit. Hopfully someone else can shine some more light on this subject.

That's like a step back to the 1960's.
Back then the Police gun was nothing more than the Wingmaster with a non-checkered oil finished walnut stock and a slightly less polished blue finish.

Kinda retro.
