The 2018 Uniform Crime Report shows a 6.2% drop in murder and nonnegligent manslaughter with an increase in rape of 2.8% from the previous year. You are far more likely to be raped than murdered and with the changes, the risk of being killed is less while the risk of rape grows. Do we hear an outcry from the media? Only about "assault weapons" which were used in fewer homicides than hands and feet.

We should make sure as many people as possible see this data and we should point out that rape is a greater and growing risk than murder yet we only hear "epidemic" and "crisis" used about "mass shootings" (a data set too small and infrequent to establish useful statistics for) "gun violence" (decreasing) instead of the rising rate of rape.
