New Hodgdon load data website, do you like it!?

Well, evidently there’s some folks who think their opinions are the only ones allowed. So, all y’all who said you don’t like the new interface - myself included - are just wrong and need to shut up and get with the program.

It was a nice thought asking people if they liked the new site or not. But I guess saying Nay is just not allowed.

By the way, I use my phone for looking up loads, not my desktop. I suspect the site is still in development and will become more mobile friendly but, right now it’s a downgrade. In my opinion.

I can't figure out a way to select one cartridge and multiple bullet weights.

It doesn't seem to allow it; checking one clears other possibilities. Apparently you have to leave bullets for a cartridge unchecked/unfiltered to see the loads for multiple bullets. IIRC, that is different.

Yep from my phone it is full of buggs. It won't even stay on the same page as I look at one caliber because I can't get it all on one screen I have to page down & when I page down it changes calibers on me.
I just flat out don't like it, in fact to me it's dangerous the way it's changing calibers.

This is what I get using the 123gr bullets. Maybe they still need to get the bugs worked out.

At present, there doesn't seem to be a load for a 123-gr bullet and 4227 in the data set, so they've gone ahead and removed it from possible powders on the fly.
The only load for 4227 is the one I posted above.
They may have decided to remove that load, just like some loading manuals do when they are updated.

Edit: or they just plain forgot ot lost it, like IT people sometimes do when doing "upgrades".

Iphone or Android? Just curious, it shouldn't make any difference, but sometimes...
I fiddled on an Android using the Via browser (I don't like Google's default one). I scrolled down without caliber changes, but yes, that would be bad.

I phone.
I guess I won't use their sight for reference until they get the bugs worked out.

It is kind of a pisser (hope that's OK to say).
My experience so far is mostly like when Microsoft moves menus around in its programs, for no good reason, in the new versions. Yes, the functionality is still there but why?

The loading data for IMR 4227 has definitely been truncated. As far as I can tell the tables for all of the IMR powders have had obsolete bullets removed to make them more useful. There’s also several CPB and Hunter’s Supply weights missing from the .357 and .44 Accurate loading tables. 4100 used to list the 200gr WFN-GC but now the only CPB bullet listed is the 187gr WFN.

My guess is the missing parts are either no longer in production or soon won’t be.

Some features are nice, other changes are a PITA. Unless I missed something, you can only look at one bullet/powder combination at a time which I don't like.

click the "add selection" button after looking at your first powder/bullet combo.

click the "add selection" button after looking at your first powder/bullet combo.
Then you see the new load, but the previous selection is gone. You used to be able to look at one bullet, like 38 special, and select more than one powder manufacturer and more than one of their powders.

There is another button after that to expand all loads.

One thing I used to do was choose a round, add a bullet weight, then select the powders that I have in hand to compare velocities and pressures. Now it looks like I only have the option to select one powder. I'm not a fan of having to move back and forth too much to compare loads.

But at the same time, it does look like it brought back IMR4320, which I happen to have a couple cans on the shelf, and loads for a couple rounds I shoot, so it looks like I won't have to look to find older manuals to get the data.

Well you can't make everyone happy I guess. I've been using their latest paper manual I got for free with one of my orders not to long ago...

When I saw the selections below, I had hoped for more than I found,,,,

UNFORTUNATELY, I'm unable to get 'add selection' do anything any different than 'clear selections' (start over) so,,,,, dang Beta version! LOL!

The 1st big thing I noticed is that for 6.5 Grendel, they added several more powders to their selection.

I liked their site better when I could compare a group of powders for a certain bullet.

It will be more telling when I check it out on the puter later today.

I just checked it out. Been awhile since I was there last. Agreed, don't get too selective past bullet weight and it should come up with what you need.

That's all I can get it to do.

Edwa4687, what button are you selecting to display multiple brands of powders for one bullet?

Nay. The last new one was slow on my phone so I cut out the paper pages I wanted. I'm still not impressed they left trap door loads out last year and I guess 7.62x39 was taking up too much space. Save paper. They must develope new to keep their job.

what button is it?

This one:
add selection.JPG

That's all I can get it to do.
You have to get a load for one selection first, then hit the add selection button, go through selecting the round, bullet, etc, then click Get Load Data. It adds the new load(s) below the old one(s)
The old ones are kind of hidden:

If you click the > the old load(s) open up.
what button are you selecting to display multiple brands of powders for one bullet?
Just select the cartridge and bullet, don't select any powder and click Get Load Data.
multiple powders.JPG
All of the loads for that cartridge and bullet which are in the new system will show. Apparently there are old loads which are now missing. Sigh. If a brand isn't listed, there is no load data for that brand or powder for the selected bullet and cartridge in this new system, so there's no Accurate, Ramshot, or Winchester data for a .223 Remington Pistol load and a 55-grain bullet, in the example above, just Hodgdon or IMR brands.
