New Holster for Ruger Old Army

A couple of weeks ago a poster here asked for holster makers. I found a couple and liked one of his offerings. I got the holster yesterday just 9 days after ordering it. I like it. I got it from TonyU Leathergoods on ETSY.

Very nice I just love western rigs. Mine is not so fancy however I did make it along with the Ranger cartridge belt. Holds 25 rounds of .500 S&W magnums.

Nice holster. I have a Bianchi flap holster and a Ruger flap holster. Never used the latter and it was cheap enough so I bought it.

That picture made me think of the words in an old Marty Robbin's song about a big iron on his hip. The Old Army is certainly a big iron.

I have looked at TonyU's offerings on etsy and wondered how he can sell at the prices he does. I'm guessing a combination of foreign leather and labor makes it possible.

Mass production. I'm guessing drum dyed leather. I don't see any edge work. All the floral stuff is embossed, not carved. Shop has 33,000 sales. Not at all criticizing, there's just no way to do that much volume without mass production.

I agree. They look pretty good in small pictures. I am pretty sure if seen in person I would leave them laying as I am not interested in that type of work. I would rather have a Hunter that is entirely smooth. In fact I have one from before the days when I started making my own holsters and it's been many a mile on my hip and is still in good condition. I have no problem with anyone that wants one though. People's tastes vary.

I got one of Tony's shoulder holsters (bandolier style) for a SAA replica off ebay, and I agree that it's very good quality and a great value for the low price paid.
