New Kel-Tec PMR-30 auto pistol

Leave it to Kel-Tec to come up with something like that. They come out with something like the PLR-16/22 and now they have a .22 mag autoloader with a factory 30 round magazine. You can love them or hate them, but they have guts (or something else) to release some of the things they do. I probably won't end up buying one (even if they are $350 or something which is probably what they'll be)...but the fun factor looks high for a plinker. .22 mag isn't as cheap as the .22lr of course, but it won't exactly break the bank either.

Yes, I do want too! I'll find a reason to get one if it's not priced steep. Being a Keltec, I doubt it will be.

Rcmodel, thanks for those links!

Awesome. Kel-Tec is truly one of the last innovators, making some of the coolest products out there. I don't really need or want one in .22mag, but it is cool. Hopefully we will see a .22LR version at some point, as that would make an awesome plinker.

I always wanted a Grendel P30. This new Kel-Tec is pretty cool, but I actually like the looks of the Grendel better.

Consider also that Grendel had fluted chamber (which would work poorly once dirty) and PMR-30 has locked breech design for better reliability.

WOW! It is so ugly yet I love it! I wish there was more material in front of the trigger guard, if the frame was bigger there it might help to balance out the looks.

Funny thing is, just the other day my Dad was asking me if anyone made a .22 mag pistol (it is his unofficial favorite caliber). I can't wait to show him this!

School me on the 22mag round. I never heard of it. I've been wanting a 22lr pistol to plink with. Maybe this would foot the bill. Whats the price of 22 mag rounds?

I hope this doesn't take as long to bring to market as the RFB. Kel Tec really does push innovation. They are also pretty good budget firearms. Depending on price point and performance I could see myself buying one of these. Kind of a poor mans Fiveseven.

I think it is great, and really the 22 mag is no punk, I would rather have a 22mag than a 380 for self defense. The fact that it holds 30 rounds is great for plinking and yet enough to take on a couple of people shot wise!!

Seriously? That's interesting.

I know little about .22 mag. Could we discuss it a little, especially in that SD role?

Added later: found this here:

The power of the Magnum, coupled with the violent expansion provided by its JHP bullet, makes it too much cartridge for shooting cottontail rabbits and squirrels at close range unless only head shot are taken. Body shots tend to literally blow these small animals apart.

Used for self defence in a revolver, the .22 WMR has compiled a 42% one shot stop rate according to Marshall and Sanow. This is far superior to the .22 LR and .25 ACP, and makes the .22 WMR the best of the small bore handgun cartridges.
