Hi everyone-
Been lurking for some time now and thought I'd say hello.

Just got my hands on an LCR today, my 2nd wheel gun. So far I'm very impressed, especially with the trigger pull- compared to my wife's Taurus snubby, well, there is no comparison :D
When researching just WHAT gun to buy for CC, I read so many people who thought this thing was ugly- but I can't stop staring at it, I think it's the best looking gun I've seen in a long time. Also wouldn't look out of place in some crazy, futuristic anime or something.

On a side note- the transfer bar is extremely noisey! Sounds like a coin rattling around in there. Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh, and PS- I think the lock Ruger includes with this thing weighs as much as the gun!!

I don't have an LCR, but I've got several Ruger revolvers and the transfer bar rattles around in all of them.

Welcome to the LCR owners club got mine a few weeks after the release and havnt looked back since

Congrats on a neat snubby.

As mentioned above, Ruger wheelguns rattle in my experience normally, so probably nothing to worry about.

OK that's good to hear, just curious. My Blackhawk .357 has some rattle as well but it's not nearly as pronounced, that's why I was wondering.

Can't wait to get out and shoot it! Got some BB 158g standard pres and some +P as well I'm going to try out.

I got one a few weeks ago and I love it. You're right, the looks do start to grow on you. So light you forget it's there but I find it enjoyable to shoot at least for a few rounds (unlike the scandium/titanium nightmare I tried previously). I'm going to out 25-30 rounds through it each range session, regardless of what else I'm shooting.

The noise from the transfer bar is just a quirk of Ruger, my SP101 does the same. It's like traffic noise, some days you don't notice it, other days it drives you crazy.

My LCR has the same "rattle", as does my father's SP101.

I agree with you on the aesthetics of the LCR, I think they look and "feel" better than any of the competition, (trigger pull, stock grip, larger trigger guard).

On a side note- the transfer bar is extremely noisey! Sounds like a coin rattling around in there. Has anyone else experienced this?

Unfortunately yes it is normal. I called ruger and asked after I got mine. They told me it was normal. I had my doubts and called a second time and set about researching it. It is normal. All the LCR's I have handled do it. It REALLY bugged me at first. I will say that when it is loaded and in a holster being carried I don't notice it ever. I would still prefer if it didn't have that though. It is my only gripe with the LCR. Aside from the rattle it is proving itself a great little CC revolver and I don't think the rattle detracts from it much if at all in practical terms.

As a note since it was mentioned in another post my SP101 has a tiny rattle. The LCR's was MUCH MUCH louder that is why i contacted Ruger a couple of times.

I am jealous...I wish I had the LCR. :( When I had money to buy it, I couldn't find one to buy -- they were all out (even online was tough). And now the money I had earmarked for the LCR has been allocated "elsewhere" (sniff). I did get a chance to hold one in a shop and was amazed how light it was, especially compared to the S&W 442.

Happy shooting!

Could a small glob of grease be used to silence the rattle? Or is that a bad idea?
I wouldn't. If that helped, it would likely only do so temporarily. Think about where that grease will migrate to . . . if dirt can get into the mechanism, the grease will trap it. Just follow the owner's manual instructions for lubrication and learn to live with the rattle.

If you listen closely, the transfer bar on S&W revolvers rattles also.

Thats how my sp101 is. With the LCR you don't have to listen that carefully. Like I said though it is more of a personal annoyance than a real problem.

Yeah the LCR is great...I put some Brownells Friction Defence in the hammer pivot pin hole. As good as the factory trigger was, it is now amazing! I have it on me 99% of the time. Recoil is nothing with the Hogues.

I got mine a couple months ago. I like everything about this gun. Yea, it rattles a little. So what neither I or anyone else can hear it in my Smart Carry holster.

Holster

If you are going to pocket carry the LCR do yourself a favor and look at the RKBA holsters. I absolutely love mine and the quality of work for the price can't be beat. I tried one of the nylon one size fits most pocket holsters and it was much more bulky and it didn't allow you to get a full grip on the draw.:D

So-
Been looking and haven't been able to find anything- does anyone make a night sight for this?

The Nemesis is perfect for pocket carry.

Storm--which Nemisis holster do you have for your LCR ? The one for the j-frame or the one for the SP101 ?

Just got my Nemesis in the mail today- I like it but it's really bulky in a front pocket. We'll see how I like it- it goes good in the cargo pocket though! Might have to get one of those RKBA holsters to go with it... we'll see.

RetDep, that Nemesis is for the LCR and SP101. On the packaging the LCR was listed first with the SP101 listed right next to it. I think it also listed the J Frame, but that was further down below with other revolvers. With the Nemesis they seem to list the best fit first on the packaging.

RetDep310 - When I ordered up a nemesis from Midway, I went with the j-frame version as they didn't have any listed specifically for the LCR. Works great.
