New member from Oregon.

I'm relatively new to firearms(went from nearly zero exposure to constant handling 3 years ago), am a firm believer in personal defense as well as self control.

Years of martial arts training(heavy emphasis on self control and restraint), a flat out obsession with fast cars and mechanical study, and now a passion for firearms training.

Handguns:
Springfield XD45 CT
Sig Sauer P228 - W. German, circa 94
Walther PPK - Interarms import

The next purchase will likely be a 90s Remington 700, chambered in .308

Glad to be here!

hello

Just signed up for this site. Glad to be here looks like a lot of great info once I figure out how too find it. Better with guns than typing and computers. Just wanted to say hello.

Hello from South Dakota. Just recently joined and have learned much in that short time. I used to be a competitive handgun shooter (Bullseye, IPSC, PPC) when the hands were steady, but know it's mostly paper at the range with my 1911s and Supermatics. I also shoot clays and reload for shotshell and .45 ACP. I'm retired military and am having a blast with life right now.

hi there, bernie from canada.i like precision but i have an ar15 6semi pistols we cant have as much fun as our neighbours down south but we have to keep trying.

I chose the handle because I consider myself new to guns. I am 68 so what shooting I have had in my life has been multiplied several times over in the last year or so. I have had several guns over the years but they were presents from dad when I was still at home or inherited from different relatives dyeing; rifles, a shotgun and some pistols.
Now I have bought many guns in the past year or so and have a shooting range with my buddies on my property. My brother being one of them just got a birthday present for me, a target thrower. Tomorrow we will be shooting at the clays. I am looking at three gun competition, have joined Oath Keepers and am looking at reloading gear.
No, I'm not retired, still working full time as ASE Master auto tech. I love motorcycles and ride an R6. 4 Years USN Vietnam.

New to site and guns

Hello all, recently joined to learn about firearms (everything) as I am very new to them (got my first pistol, S&W M&P 9 in November). Also just got my CC license.

Not new, A lurker coming out ;)

Howdy, I'm not new here, been lurking on this thread for many years, reading, learning. I posted a few questions in the past for clarity, but never really posted before.
I really like this forum, seems quite a respectable and informative forum and I'm wanting a more interactive experience now ;).

I got a late start in the whole firearms experience , being raised in a somewhat liberal environment and my parents were not pro gun (they weren't antis either, but I was within the realm of Political Correctness and guns were not, well, in the PC world, lol). I shot my first gun back in '08, after which I joined this and a couple other forums to learn as much as I could because the experience was just so amazing :D, loved the experience of shooting and wanted to learn as much as I could. I'm a certifiable "gun nut" now, with a few firearms of our own. My kids are also growing up with the experience that I wish my parents would have provided for me.

Looking forward to chatting with ya'll :)

I'm Derek new here, and I like all kinds of guns been messing with them for a while now mostly pawn shop specials that need work. I like to tinker with fire arms in my free time. Gotta have a hobby. I've learned quite a bit from this place, But now I have questions so i joined to learn some more.

New member from Indiana. Not new to guns, just new to THR. Active on my local community gun forum but want to expand that activity to a wider group of people than those just in my state.

Heya!

Bought a jc Higgins model 31 at a pawn shop.
I new nothing about the rifle and was trying to learn. I ran across a thread from this site.

Good morning,

I joined this forum due to the information I found here regarding handloading. So far I have completed 200 rounds of 9mm Luger. I live in Nevada and have completed all the paperwork for my CCW permit. Now I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

Recently joined. Been a shooter for 25 of my 30 years. Starting with a daisy quicksilver to my most recent purchase of an xd 40. And many variants of tactical and american classics in between. I enjoy all aspects of shooting but had kind of set it on the back burner for the last 5 years. In that time I've moved, married and had several life changes. My wife's growing interest has rekindled my fire for firearms related activities. So far this sight seems like a great group of people and well ran. Glad to be a part of it!

Just took an oath to the forum rules

Hello THR members,

For many of the same reasons I recently deleted my "facebook" account, I'm very happy to be here tonight (stage-5, 10 year THR lurker here!)

After doing a quick google search for a firearms question, I came upon one of your threads, where there was some disagreement, a bit of consciousness -- and a real "knowledge transfer" going on.

That was really nice.

You won't find that on other parts of the internet -- that's why I'm happy to be with you guys now; not to mention that I prefer a forum where a popular post has 100 comments, rather than 10k. :uhoh:

I'm a mid-20's shooter who has followed the "way of the gun" for going on 15 years now -- trained by an IPSC shooter, I'm good enough to know I still have a lot to learn.

I'm also a conservative, LIBERTARIAN republican and a political activist -- of note, I worked one of the Colorado Recalls...

Anyway, I look forward to 60 years of fellowship with you guys, when we have to look back at today, let's be able to say we did it right.

For Liberty,

AR15activist

Welcome aboard.

FYI: THR (the high road) doesn't really 'do' politics much.

This is a very good forum. Much better, and better modded/etc, than most of the others IMO and IME.

I got here the hard way

This may sound funny, but I heard about THG from a member who was recently banned from here. He joined the forum that I used to enjoy and participate in. I just could not avoid seeing his 13+ posts a day with nothing but BS and hateful opinions.

I have been shooting most of my life but have become more interested in becoming a better shooter and improving on my small collection of guns. At the moment, I have an 870, an AR15, a 10/22, a Mark II Target, and my g19 EDC.

I read on an earlier post that you don't have a lot of politics here and personally, I applaud that. It saves on arguments and hard feelings.

Good Evening! I am new to this forum, coming over from the advice from a member on another forum.

I love shooting and am in love with Sporting clays, five stand, skeet and occasionally trap. Sporting clays is my passion. I am going to participate in a driven clay shoot in March and am thinking about hunting. Still not sure if I can do it. But.....thinking.

I hope to learn lots here!
