[QUOTE="Retired Coast Guard Chief..."[/QUOTE]

That right? Don't see too many coasties around, I just did my four years and got out, ETN2. But I was in the very 'old guard'. Glad to make your acquaintance, Andy. I'm new too.

Hi everyone! I'm excited to be joining THR! I'm your average college gal from Nebraska. After watching my bf learn so much from here, I figured this would be a great place for me to learn more about firearms. I own a Marlin Model 60 22LR and I just recently purchased a Ruger Security Six .357 magnum

Welcome,

Good morning........allow me to introduce myself.....
I'm an old guy, born raised and lived most of my life in rural Indiana.Moved to Montana in '99 but now back in Indiana.
My wife and I have been married nearly 45 years. We shot competition for many years were Hunter Safety instructors for many years, were both NRA certified Basic Handgun and Personal Protection instructors. We are both NRA Life Members.
In our younger years we were avid deer hunters and my wife was POSSIBLY the first woman to ( legally) kill a deer with a handgun in Indiana.( first light, first morning, first season she killed a big doe with her Model 29 S&W)
Theses days we just try to remain proficient with our carry handguns and various ARs and other guns that we have.We are also raising a 5 year old granddaughter.........and at nearly 75 years old and poor health THAT is a challenge!!
Best regards
FatOldGuy

Hello from Colorado. I've been doing a lot of shooting lately and my searches seem to bring me here, so I thought I would say hello and thanks for the great forum. I am lucky enough to be able to target practice on my property with my wife and daughter. They mostly just shoot my 22lr, because my old Model 94 and 9mm are "too intense." More rounds for me, haha! Time to go clean some guns.....

Hello all I am new to the forum and looking forward to what this forum has to offer! Been a gun owner for 45 years and a reloader for 35 of those years.

Hello from North Texas
Always found good info on this site so decided to finally join up.

I'm mostly into handguns and I am apparently the last person on the internet who actually still likes the 40 S&W cartridge. Also a big fan of the mighty 10 but mostly stick to the little 40 for most things. I have been reloading for about 5 years or so and always looking to pick up more knowledge.

Hello from Canada.
I've been shooting for some time now. I took an interest in Scout rifles lately and own a Mossberg scout but I also build and shoot BP flintlock long rifles. I'm retired military and currently full a time college student.
Thanks for reading

Hi,
New member to the forum, although I have been lurking for a while

Mostly interested in handgun and rifle shooting now, and handloading.

Been at it I was a teenager in the 1970's. Took about 30 years off while I raised up my kids and now getting back in to it.

I shoot Bullseye, some IDPA and steel plate matches, and am planning on getting more into competition.

I am also going to dive deeper into reloading since it seems to hold my interest.

The High Road seems to be a really well run forum with a lot of knowledgeable members. Thanks for adding me!

I am glad to be a member dedicated to, shooting old guns, 45-60 modern reproduction from Uberti, 4570's, 45 colt , 7.65 Argentine, 300 win mag and the 38 special/ 357 mag. I also shoot flintlock and 577 parker hale black powder. I used to be heavy into reloading jacketed ammo, but now I am into cast bullets. I like more bang for my buck, pardon the pun. I hope you guys can teach this old boy so new things. Hunkpapa

New member, but kinda embarrassed to say I've been lurking for close to 5 years now, I started late in life around 6 years ago. Since then I have acquired some handguns and a shotgun, and try to get to the range every month. Not sure what I can contribute, but can tell you I have sure gotten a ton of info from you guys.

First off, my screen name is my real name. I AM open & notorious

I have been shooting since 1970. My dad and I ran Schram's Custom Guns a full service gun smithery, everything from cleaning filthy hunting guns, to chemical bluing, bespoke fitted stocks cut from tree stumps (that was my dad's baby) to machine everything from tools to mono blocks (my area of responsibility). Sadly, the Clinton Administration's desire to shut down "Basement FFLs" was our death knell and I went back to being an Environmental Engineer.

I shot trap and some skeet nearly daily for almost 20 years (where DID the time and money come from?) then life, career movement and marriage to a mentally ill woman struck.

Fast forward a few years, better wife and I quit my cushy factory management job to open a Land Rover shop.

Sadly, Cancer decided to become a part of my life, things fell apart, came back together, I got a day job-as a machinist/engineer using machine tool tech skills I gained while learning to be a better gunsmith no less. I still have the Land Rover shop as it is my PASSION-I was born to design/build/fix things. The machinery I amassed whilst running the gun smithery benefit me every day still!

Now I'm facilities Engineer for a custom cabinet factory (for the time being) and recently discovered subsonic quiet 22 LR that I can shoot in the backyard without causing the dawgs too much discomfort.

I finally joined there after spending too much time researching primarily bench rests and have found the discussions to be inspired, members to be knowledgable, and polite.

I owned a Snap-On franchise for five years but never realized it was such a source for firearms. It's curious to me how there are so many who will over-extend themselves buying tools and guns and are then more than willing to swap guns for their tool bills!

Anyway, thanx for letting me play in your sandbox, I promise to keep my kitties out of the sandbox

Cheers,
PT

Hello everybody! My name is Jarod and I'm from Colorado. I've been shooting for about 15 years and took up reloading 3 years ago. I'm interested in basically all things firearms related although I primarily enjoy target and clay shooting.

My other interests include four wheeling, camping, hiking, motocross, and just being outdoors in general.

I've lurked around on many forums over the years including THR, but this is the first online forum that I have ever joined. I appreciate that respect and civility towards other members is the rule rather than exception, and that is what led me to join (along with all of the knowledge being shared of course).

I may not post much for a while as I'm accustomed to searching existing/ old threads for info and can almost always find the answer to my specific question. But if a topic arises that I have knowledge or insight on I'll be glad to join the discussion.

I hope you all are well and thanks for having me!
