New to THR. But, not to guns

American by birth, TEXAN by the grace of God.

Now living in west central Florida; still consider myself a Texan. Getting old and gimpy but still like guns and shooting.

Love old Military Mausers. Have Swede m96's and m38's, '91 Argentines, 1909 Argentines, '95 Chileans, et al.

I clean, oil, and shoot them, and reload for the Swede 6.55, the Argentine 7.65, and 7mm Chileans.

When not fooling with my guns, my Sweetie and I go camping and/or go out to do the "Texas Two-Step".

Hello all. Not sure if this is the right way to do an introduction. Each forum is a little different. I have been monitoring time, just have not joined. Finally decided to jump in.
My name is C L. I am getting to be an old geezer from Oklahoma. I have not been a hunter for quite some time, but love shooting, fishing, reloading, boating, and reading. I reload for .357/.38, 9mm, .40, and .45 for pistol, and .308 for rifle. I really enjoy the forum

Lived in Texas since I was 2, I'm now 43. New to guns. Just bought a Mossberg 500, next purchase will probably be either a Ruger 10/22 or Mossberg 702 Plinkster.

Hi guys.

US Navy veteran.
Reloader.
3 CZ-52s, bought one then started looking for parts just in case and found myself buying guns instead. Then I found a full armorers kit. The guns are so heavy and clunky that I like them.
I have an interest in military guns.

Howdy All,
I "sort of" new to THR. That is, I was a member years ago before my computer broke and life got hectic. Anyway, I'm back (even though I can't remember my old user name and password, so I had to re-register) and I'm looking forward to conversing with all of you good folks now that I have a new computer and lots of time because I'm retired.

Been lurking for a while, just now joining. I belong to a few other forums, and have always found this one to be both helpful and informative. As someone looking to get into reloading those are traits I am looking for.

Lots of good advice here on that. Welcome Aboard !

I'm not a new member, but I just started visiting again after a few years away. For the most part, this seems like a friendly group of people. Looking forward to participating more and learning all I can. If anyone wants to chat about guns or anything else, just PM me.

Hello All and thanks for having me again! lol

I thought I'd been lurking for a while (which I had), then decided to register and my email was already in use, that's how I figured out that I had registered years ago (at least more than one year ago, I had a surgery that the meds have my memory wacked out and hope it comes back when the meds go away?) and long forgotten, evidently??? I checked my subscribed threads and none show so I must have never introduced myself and/or posted (shame on my, I'm a Moderator at a few unrelated sites).

I'm honored to be a member here at THR and promise never to recommend any idiots other than myself to join this site! :) Thanks for having me.

You can call me Sledge, it's been my nick name since playing competitive foosball in the 1970's, in Tampa. I worked under an FFL for 15 years give or take a few. The shop is closed for good now. I took a mail order Gunsmiths coarse back in the 1980's but just to learn the good stuff (What I wanted to learn back then was all about modding and general trouble shooting problems with all types of long and short arms) and I skipped the stuff like woodwork, checkering and the like etc... I learned just enough to make me dangerous! lol I never wanted to be a Smithy, just be able to work on my own stuff.

I have quite a diverse collection, from antiques to just brand new models, but when I say new what I mean is that they have been out for at least five years so any bugs should have been shot out of them by then in my estimation/opinion, the way I do new car models.

This turned out to be a Novel of an introduction, when I just wanted to register to thank a member for a post I found very useful. I'll get back to that now.

Sincerely,
Sledge

PS: Just saw my join date after posting this and can't believe it took me more than 7 years to write my first post, especially as long as I type!

New member, just saying hi

Hi all, I just wanted to take a minute to make my first post and introduce myself. My name is Britton and I'm from southern Oklahoma, a medic, an avid 2nd amendmenter, and a father of 2. I've visited THR several times for various reasons and have found the information here very useful and accurate. So, thank you guys for that!
Hopefully, I will find more answers to questions I will undoubtedly have in the future as I'm purchasing a new pistol that I am completely virgin to.

I'll post a few pictures of what I currently own and the new baby I'm in the process of paying off and ordering (The Kimber Micro Raptor in 380)

Hello!!

Hi All,

As is customary, I wanted to write a first post and introduce myself. Not new to guns, been shooting since I was a child, but this is the first and so far only forum I belong to!

I chose this over others because I've learned a lot here and I feel this is one of the more relevant forums without all the b.s.

Thanks to everyone for all your info and hopefully I can help as well from time to time although some of you guys have way more knowledge than I do :D

I love to hunt and camp as well as practice self defense so to me guns are our tools....and like everything else I want to know all I can about my tools.

Recently I've had more time in life to be able to spend time learning so looking forward to all the fun here!

Thank you for having me and see you around!

I'm from the S.E. United States and love this region although Colorado has been on my radar!

40 some years ago had a Marlin AT22 for coon hunting (east central IL).

While on my first trip (Oct 2015) after retirement. Wife asked IF we should have a gun for protection.

Did some research, talked to some good friends that owned guns.

Dec 2015 got a Taurus PT111 G2 have about 400 rounds through it.

Jan 2016 got a Taurus TCP from a good friend, did some smithing to match the "E" model and have 200 rounds though it.

March 2016 got my CCP.

May 2016 wanted a fun diet soda can killer got a Phoenix Arms HP22A Nickel.

Hi, all! I've been lurking around here and other sites (which shall not be named) for a while, but just signed up today. I should thank you all for the fantastic information that I've been able to find heretofore. Every post that I've read has been insightful and polite. It seems like a great group of people here--hence why I chose to join this forum. I'm really new to firearms and shooting in general (just bought my first one last week!). I've been around guns a little through my family and friends, but just held off purchasing one until now. I like to research as much as I can before I make a decision (probably too much, but C'est la vie, n'est pas??). Sorry, this turned into a longer post than I had envisioned when a simple "Hi" would probably have sufficed.

new member

Hi, Im tomjoe and i live near atlanta,ga. Im 58 and been a gun nut for a long time. i got my first ar15 a couple years ago and since playing with a tactical gun i now have an ak47 and a vz2008. the vz2008 is the reason i found this forum because its giving me some grief about feeding the last few rounds in a mag. ive already smoothed out the corners in the reciever that sometimes catches a round as its loading and already polished the feed ramp. I also took the mags apart and cleaned them. Im thinking may need new mag springs or maybe new recoil and striker springs. I just dont know. runs good now until the last 2-3 roundsin the mag. anybody have a suggestion. ps,,, this is my first forum and im not quite sure how to post or anything. it took me an hour to get here lol.

Hi all! I'm in Buckeye AZ, a small town on the outskirts of Phoenix AZ. I'm pretty newly retired and decided to get back into reloading, that's how I found the site, doing some research. I love my AR-15 and my Glocks. I carry everyday here and look forward to surfing the site and learning from you all.
BTW...I'm also a motorcycle nut...Victory Cross Country and a Triumph 1050 Tiger.

Another newb entering THR. Been into shotguns for some time. Starting to get into pistols. Hope I can learn and eventually contribute here.
