New To The Forum

Hello

My name is Mark and I live in the center of the lower pennsula of Michgan. I am an active IDPA and USPSA competitor and experienced re-loader. I love hunting, fishing and riding my motorcycle.

I have had a CPL (concealed pistol license) for over 40 years and as an NRA certified trainer I present monthly CPL classes for residents seeking a permit.

While I am a "noobie" on THR.. I have been an active participant of the Brian Enos, 1911, Concealed Carry, and Michigan Gun owners forums for a long time.

I look forward to bumping into old friends and the opportunity to make some new ones.

Greetings, everyone. I am Father Roger Bell, aa traditional Anglican priest. My first exposure to the pleasure of shooting sports was as a kid--in Ontario, Canada--when a parishioner of my Dad gave my brother and me an opportunity to shoot his .22 rifle at tin cans.

I have lived in Indiana for the past fifty years--aged 62 now--and still enjoy target shooting and hunting. I am also a strong believer in the inherent right to self defense--and the responsibility we all have to defend those who are incapable of defending themselves. I look forward to participating in this forum.

I am an NRA member and a long-time gun owner. I run the R&D group at Radiator Specialty Co. We manufacture GUNK, Liquid Wrench, and the line of Smith & Wesson firearm care products (the ones with the bullet-shaped caps).

Greetings,

My name is Lee and I come to you from reading the Nightcrawler story, the one that Larry Correia co-wrote.

I am currently on my second go around in exercising my 2nd amendment rights. I recently purchased a CZ P-07 Duty and have accessorized it so far with a Streamlight TLR-3. I am also in the process of acquiring a Charter Arms Patriot with the 2.2" barrel.

On my wishlist is an AR-15, CZ-75, and a SS Colt Python with a 4" barrel. I know, I'm not asking for much. The Python is a fantasy gun as my one of my boyhood heroes, Carl Lyons of Able Team would carry one.

I do not currently possess my CCW, but I will be applying for one soon.

I'm a huge science fiction fan. I also enjoy working performance rallies (think Subaru WRX's dodging tree at 80mph)

I look forward to reading and posting here.

I am here for advice on guns. I have been shooting for about 20 yrs and i know a little bit about gun but always willing to learn more. I own a few guns like an sks, colt 45, mossburg 505 youth (which is great for home defense), and a marlin .22 bolt action. I am look into a center fire rifle but not sure on what to get. I am thinking about a remington 770 or 700 in a 308 cal.

No longer a Lurker...

Hi All,
New member here from Central Florida, I just discovered your forum after finding a reference to it on another site. It looks like someplace I can enjoy a good discussion. I'm a veteran (Vietnam), enjoy guns (all types), presently an independent contractor for a DOD vendor and love to fish anytime I'm near water with a little free time on my hands.

Howdy

Hey all, I have been reading the THR forums for roughly a year now and decided I could offer something to community by posting occasionally and feel safe asking for help/support from fellow gun owners on this site.

I'm a Deputy here in Central Texas as well as contractor dealing in training. Look forward to getting to know everyone, thanks for having me.

Hello

Hello all,

I've been lurking here for darned near two years now, finally got off top dead center and signed up. Really enjoy the friendly banter and knowledge sharing from everyone which was the draw for me to keep coming back. heh..

Anyways, I am an NRA Life Member, retired A/F (Yes, I'm an old type fart), and have my C&R much to my wallet's detriment.

My primary 'Hobby' is Eastern bloc weapons, may not know a lot about them, love collecting and shooting them tho. lol. but pretty much if it goes boom, I like.

Thanks for letting me join the fun.

Hello from Columbus, Ohio
I am originally from the farm fields of NW Ohio so ive got some great shooting stories....My favorite firearm that ive got right now is my late 40's Marlin Ranger 16 gauge o/u. I am a big fan of that gauge and wish more people would shoot it. I am also a big time turkey hunter....but not the luckiest! lol I have the great responsibility of being the caller at most of my set-ups and i get to watch loved ones shoot the birds! Its still a blast though! This year i was hunting huron county and worked 5 birds total...got the birds to within gun range but couldn't close the deal. My favorite call to use is a Pennsylvania thunder glass call that i bought while at the Deer and Turkey expo. It purrs really easily and has great tone.

Greetings! I will be data mining looking for the process of finding the sweet load for my gun. It is a .300 WM, Krieger 24" (26" overall), SS, Contour 4, twist 1/10, flat black Teflon coated, step crown, Vais muzzle brake, and a Zeis 4.5-14 X 44mm. Unit is accurized and is suppose to shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards. I am currently using SMK 180 gr. and mixed brass. I have Forster match dies and the RCBS press that takes 50BMG dies too (forgot the model). I will have my case tumbler by the end of the month and will start getting serious on the process for finding the sweet load by then. My range I use is limited to 300 yards and weapon will be used for hunting as well as range fun. My goal is to find range combo and Barns hunting combo that is very close so scope adjustment is nill or minimal. I hope to use set up for feral pig as primary game and possible deer depending on lease fees.
Anyway thanks for any inputs and I will be doing a lot of reading on the FAQs, then the postings.

Ever have those moments when the wife drags you out to meet her friends and you have to make small talk? :banghead:

Firstly I enjoy shooting, being a former grunt its like drinking beer and eating meat...its relaxing. While I enjoy modern rifles like the M4 or Steyr AUG I belive you cant beat the classics be that the SMLE period rifles of WW2 up to the SLR and M14.

Just getting started into reloading so this site is a godsend.

Cheers

Another noob

Hi All. I've been lurking for a few months and finally signed up. The basics about me: 38, married, father of 2, owner of 1 gun so far (a S&W 617 4" .22 10-shot), with plans to get more if the not-so-great state of New Jersey thinks it's okay.

The strange thing is...I've loved guns ever since I was a little kid with cap guns, etc...but it took about 30 years before it occurred to me (!) that I could actually get some real ones. I'm on my way.

Thanks for all the good info on this site.

Been away toooo long

After years of training firearms students on the range, and MMA students on the mats, I've found you can't ignore the internet to get your message out to the world and keep abreast of what's going on in the fields we love.

Check out the website to see what we're all about and I welcome emails so don't be a stranger.

Keep safe.

New guy...

Hi! I'm mike, I live in Kentucky. I've been around guns my whole life, and, I guess, took them for granted until...Well, let's just say recently. I've got my CCDW license, and do security at my church. I use a Kahr P45 for that. Got a few .38s, .22s and a 1911 also. I love big bore autos! I'm thinking about a .380 for more deep concealment tho. Well that's enough about me.

Used to shoot competiton pistol (PPC, Bianchi Cup, Steel Challenge, IPSC and IDPA) for a LONG time, but retired from this in 2004.

Bob

Hi all,
Came across the forum today, and had to join. I believe in the 2nd amendment. I believe that we have a right as law abiding Americans to have fire arms. We have a right to protect our family and property. No government and no law has a right to take that right away from me. If they do then I guess I'll be an outlaw. With that said, I had been in law enforcement for several years but have retired. I enjoy shooting every chance I get. I carry a fire arm everyday, because I have seen first hand what is out there. Its better to be prepared then it is to be a victim. Enough said.

i'm a new member. been hangin' round for about a week now. i live in the sierras, own four handguns, two c.f. rifles and a nylon66. i also have one dog, four cats and a wife.

Hello from East Tennessee

I'm typing this for the third time on the intro thread.....stupid spell check!

I was doing some searches on the net on various pistols and revolvers and kept finding myself directed to THR over and over again....after a few times of this I thought I might as well sign up.....looks like a nice forum with a lot of good info from knowledgeable folks.

simmz

finally figured out that spell check. :)

Hello from Texas:
I was deployed as a civilian with the Army a few years ago. I was getting ready to go outside the wire, when the sgt turned to me and asked which weapon I knew better in case something happens, the rifle or pistol. I had no experience with guns before, except for a mere 20 minutes with my husband’s rifle back when we were dating. So, I said rifle, he said “you’re with me”, that is when I realized I needed to learn to shoot. I started back in Feb. with single action shooting and am now eager to learn the rifle. I hope to one day compete with the rifle. I have “lurked” around the site for a while and decided to post.
Thanks for everyone’s postings, they are all helpful.
