Hi everbody, My name is Mike. I didn't get into guns til my mid twenties, but I love them now. All my kids are getting the exposure to them young, unlike me. I spent 5yrs in the Marines as a CH-53 crew chief. Now that I'm back in Colorado and a little older, I get my military fix from the national Guard, where I'm an MP. Funny, I dislike ARs and Beretta 92s because of my military time. I like combat tupperware for playing at the range. I love old Colt revolvers for show, the are beautiful. My goal is to get 5 Colt 1917 revolvers, one for each kid. I would like to hand them down a firearm that is both good looking and has historical significance.

Hi all. My name is Larry, some call me LT.

Been shooting since I was 8 under the tutelage of my Dad (RIP) I took some time off from shooting for about 15 years when business obligations got in the way. But I've been back at it pretty hard for the last 8-10 years.

I like to shoot pistols, although I don't do much competition except for informal steel plates with friends. I also like shooting my AR and hunting with my 30.06. I enjoy shot gun shooting as well but don't get to do much of that. Love to dove hunt though.

As my screen name suggests, I'm fond of Sigs, although I'm down to only one at this time. P226, which I shoot better than any other hand gun I've ever picked up. Also have various other pistols and long guns.

Hope I can learn a little here, and maybe contribute some too.

Hey Y'all, central Ohio here. I've been lurking on and off over the last couple of years. Figured I'd sign up to further enjoy the knowledge of those who have gone before me.

I currently own quite a few weapons that I reload for, my newest being an Encore 15" .460 s&w mag (the beast).

I'm still pretty green as far as reloading goes and absorb any info I can about it.

have a good one y'all, Shawn

Just joined today

Hi guys & girls,

I was a member of another site for quite a while, but I got tired of all the petty bickering and decided to find another home. I'm retired, have guns, reload, and have plenty of time on my hands. I live out in the country in Western Ohio, and I have my own shooting range in my back yard. I do have a sense of humor, so I'll be sure to use the emoticons, so you won't think I'm causing trouble.:)

Hey Guys.

I just registered today. Ive been reading THR post for awhile. I should've joined a long time ago. I like handguns mostly. Im getting into bolt action rifles and revolvers now as well. I bought a Mossberg 802 22LR in Feb. And for my Bday in early April I got myself a Rossi 971 .357 mag (4in). So im having a lot of fun now.

Im excited to be on THR forums. I hope we can all learn something from each other. Swap information. Hopefully Nobody will take our guns from us. My other calibers are .380 (My carry gun) .45 ACP. The dont come in my house gun. Im looking for a good .38 snubbie to carry. I welcome all suggestions.

I'm a college student and I go to Vanderbilt. I'm studying political science and environmental science. I grew up in Maryland but currently reside in California. I'm generally interested in guns, and compared to most of my peers I know more about them. I would definitely not consider myself an expert, though. I don't own any, but I love shooting and would seriously consider buying a gun in the future. My interest in guns is surprising given the rest of my political views and affiliation (I'm a liberal). I'm mostly interested in modern assault rifles and pistols. I was very disappointed by the MSRP of the Bushmaster ACR being much higher than anticipated.

I do collect knives, which is an interest descended from my older brother.

hello everyone. i am new to the shotgun world. i aquierd a coast to coast master mag cc880 12 guage 30" ribbed barrel full choke. i found out it is a mossberg 500 thanks to this site. I am very intrested in finding uses for a 30 in barrel seeing as i dont know how such a long barrel preformes on a shot gun. i have removed the magazine stop so i can now put 5 shells in the tube. also im changinge my front bead to this http://www.hivizsights.com/Shotgun-FlashPoint-Front-Sight-P45C1.aspx or maybe this http://www.hivizsights.com/FO2008-Four-In-One-Shotgun-Sight-P123C1.aspxreason for that is the bead it originaly had is just no longer in operatable state. Also im trying to find a adapter plate for a sling if anyone has any good resources/refrences. Again as i am new im wondering what i can really do with a 30 in barrel, i mean would it be good for skeet/trap/s-clay and hunting? thank you

EDIT: i forgot to add the barrel has light pitting and the blueing on the reciver has some pretty good wear marks. I am leaning toward the hopps cold blue kit

Newbie on Deck

Howdy Folks,
I'm Tony in Mayberry and a newbie to this forum. I'm a military history buff and my modest arms collection reflects that. I'm a retired Army vet and I have two sons currently serving in the Army (1st INF and 82d). My dd214 lists assignments with 1/505, 2/75 and 5th SFG(A). Happy to be aboard.

Hello.
I'm a big fan of guns, even though everything I know about guns is:always assume the gun is loaded, always point the gun in a safe direction, and how to load and fire a caplock musket/rifle (courtesy of the Boy Scouts of America).

My favorite period of history is the Punic wars, where Hamilcar Barca, his son Hannibal, Scipio Africanus, Fabius Maximus, and others met in battle (or not, in the case of Fabius)

I found my way to this site through Monster Hunter Nation.

Hey everyone, I'm Alex with ARCatch22.com. I make bolt catches for ARs with .22lr conversions.

And I'm new!

Hello kids. I hail from SW Missouri. I'm new to THR and relatively new to guns as far as gun knowledge. I've shot guns all my life, but never really knew about guns themselves. I'm a car nut at heart, but have had a sudden "addiction" to guns lately. My grandma gave me my grandpa's F.I.E. CBC single shot .410 for Christmas. It was un-opened, never assembled, still in the box. lol. That was my home defense gun until recently. I'm married and the wife doesn't like to let go of money very often so I've stuck to cheap guns so far, which has ended up being military surplus stuff. My first purchase was an Enfield British .303 which I plan on using for deer hunting. My second purchase was a Remington 597 .22 which is just a necessity. My newest purchase was a 1953 Romanian Tokarev TT-33. It was cheap, ammo is cheap, and it seems to be pretty reliable. This is now my next to the bed, in car, where ever I go gun. I'll post some pics shortly. :D

Uridium has landed!

Hi all.

Just found this place from a story that was posted on another forum.

I'm a Brit who is a gun owner (a rare thing these days) and hope to learn and share with you what it's like in the UK owning firearms.

Cheers.

Been lurking for a while, now's the time to jump in. I'm AgentV3, 26 years old, from Texas. I came to the party late, I bought my first firearm when I was 22, and it was a Taurus M66. I only ever intended to own one, but it's amazing how these things multiply. The M66 is long gone, but in it's place are two shotguns: a Browning Gold Hunter and a Browning Silver Stalker, three semi-automatics: a Taurus PT92, a Glock 22, and a Springfield M1911-A1 Loaded, three Ruger revolvers: a Super Blackhawk, a Super Redhawk, and a GP-100, and one rifle: a Mosin Nagant M1891.

It's a full on addiction now, but it's not controlling me, I can quit anytime.

But I won't...

greetings from Finland fellow gunlovers.

after a ton random googling for firearms and things linked to firearms i almost all the time get link to THR,so i thought i might aswell registrate myself.

22 years of age and i love hunting and firearms. my collection is still small (in my mind huge for others overhere) only 8 firearms. 2 shotguns,4 rifles and 2 pistols.

started last fall unoficially shooting SRA with my local reservist group getting my safe shooters card within 2 weeks if a past my tests :D . its a finnish shooting sport founded by the finnish reserves and is abit like practical but stresses more of the "practical" and defensive shooting style ( READ no comps or scopes/redots on ur pistol). its the main training for the finnish reserve soldiers to keep theyre shooting skills in trim when or if sum old communist country wants to start sumthing again. :p :uhoh: (J/K)

if u got any questions about sumthing ill try my best to answer it.

Hi all.

Just signed up a couple days ago. My first post was in the gunsmithing forum about my recent shotgun barrel dent removal process.

I'm a middle aged old fart in training and have been around guns all my life. I tend to gravitate to the older, hand crafted slightly out of the norm stuff. Always hated black guns but have kept an open mind and after recently handling some of the newer versions of AR's I have to admit that I'd probably like to have one but if I ever had that kind of money I'd probably spend it on some old double shotgun or a vintage custom mauser.

I'm a professional mechanic with aviation and industrial background (not automotive except for my own cars).

My most recent gun purchase was a Husqvarna 146 in 9.3x57 caliber and now I'm looking into starting to learn to cast my own bullets. I'm on a waiting list for a group buy at Castboolits for a 9.3 mold.

I don't hunt with guns as much as I used to when I was a kid. About 16 years ago I got back into archery but that time with longbows and recurves. They really took over my hunting for a long time and I hardly used anything else but with kids coming up to hunting age now I've gotten back into the gun side of things again and having lots of fun.

What else....

Used to be big into trout fishing and ended up getting into fly fishing and tying. Now that I'm in the midwest, it's more crappie and bass so I've started dinking around with real old baitcasting reels like the old Pfluegers with the positive crank handles. That is, no freespool, the handles turn backwards when you cast. I'd love to find a couple nice old bamboo casting rods to go with the reals I have now. Something like a nice old Heddon rod.

My hunting interests are mostly white tail deer with bow but I also love hunting bunnies with beagles and a 410 or my longbow. In recent years I'm getting more into taking my kids out to hunt than hunting for myself. Sure is fun watching them get their first kill.

Hey all

I'm a new user, and also relatively new to firearms. I was introduced to shooting by going out to my friends farm, and shooting some .22's and clay pigeons all day, and have loved firearms ever since. I've since purchased three firearms for myself, and have learned that I love shooting pistols more than shotguns and rifles, but I just love shooting period

I'm currently a college student, and therefore can't afford some of the guns I really want just yet.

I also live in Illinois and can't wait for Chicago to get their act together

I'm a bit rough on the troops at times . irreverent , irascible , acerbic , dirty old man with out remorse . I do have my good side . I really do teach what I learn and try to have some humor about it . Problem is I also have no problem calling an inept time waster just that , a waste of time . Guess I'll have to work on that .
I have nearly 30 years experience working on all common makes of motorcycle and and somewhat less experience working on those I can't spell . I honestly don't have a brand preference and believe that anything less than that you ride being more important than what you ride is a posture for a--hats , imbeciles and docile media led lemmings of the American public .

My experience with firearms is only slightly less extensive having owned and used everything from black powder to SAA's to a .338-.416 REM . Far from having a broad knowledge of firearms I fall into several eclectic niches . I prefer N frames for wheel guns , think the security six was golden, don't modify my SER.70 carry weapon ,think the 5.56 and 9mm are a waste of powder, construct overbore capacity wildcats just to reach out and touch something in the next county and hunt with a .270 in open country and a model 141 .35 REM in the brush . I can't seem to shoot a Glock to save my life but appreciate the design and engineering . I'm a curious mix of set in my dinosaur ways but able and willing to learn near anything I deem worthwhile .

I digress , as per usual . If I reach the edges of your tolerance please inform me , publicly if necessary . I'm far beyond the age where a bruised ego means anything more than your using my transgression to show the rank and file what is and isn't allowed as well as keep my arrogant self out of trouble long enough to be of some assistance .

I do hope that this will be a fruitful and valuable if not at times difficult union .Online help , derision , insults , and outright laughing at you is available any time I'm actually at a keyboard . That's why my IM accounts are exposed . The only request is that if it is of a unique and useful nature and that after having your ego bruised and your sensibilities offended beyond all sane expectations please post a synopsis of the problem , diagnosis and repair to the forum . I'd do it for you but I feel I've already done my bit by making you feel small , ignorant , inept and oh by the way , helping fix the problem .

..laughing with you , not at you

New to this forum and to guns in general

Recently, my wife and myself took the Texas CHL class as a step to prepare to carry weapons with us as we begin traveling on our bikes. We started last year pulling a trailer and camping out and realized how exposed we were to the cazyness of the world. Nowhere to hide on a motorcycle or in a tent. She just got her license in the mail yesterday. Right after the class, she had hastily went out and bought her/our first gun by the feel in her hand only. It is a Smith and Wesson Sigma 9mm. It has had alot of problems jamming and went back to the factory within the first week and was gone for two weeks. We have it back now and it still has problems but not as much. She has, from the beginning had to use both of her first fingers on both hands to pull the trigger. S&W said they would not alter the trigger when they took it in for the jamming. She gave up on it and now it is "mine". I have no problem with the trigger and since I have not really done any shooting, would not even know how hard it is to pull compared to others. It groups well, it is just the jamming that is so frustrating, especially since S&W took a close look at it and declared it good to go. The CHL class advised against modifying for "hair trigger" below factory specs because past legal cases indicate intent if it was used in a shooting. All new to me!

howdy howdy folks

i actually heard about this site through GunAndGame.com forum

actually not a firearm owner yet, but i plan to have a CZ-75b as soon as i can get my hands on one

anyways this looks like a great site and i plan to stick around

Hello to all,
I'm new to the forum but looks like it should be an interesting place. I've been involved with guns and reloading since back in 1963 or 64 can't remember exactly when it was but Herters was a well known source then and guns of all types came right to you through the Mail!! Talk about times and liberty changes!!

I've gotten a lot more involved recently due to the extremely serious situation our nation is engulfed in between a Usurper in the White House and Radical Islam attempting to infiltrate and destroy our way of Life, Liberty and the persute of Happiness!

I think most all of us take a very DIM VIEW of that as I most certainly do to say the least!! The strength of our Nation lies in the fact that there are over 150,000,000+ Very Responsible and Very Patriotic Gun owners here and the largest fighting force the World has ever seen! Hoorah-Hoorah!! God Bless America and all of us!

newby from mn, hoping to find friends that love shooting, almost 60 guy, disabled but can still pull the "trigger". interested in unusual and antique firearms. need help on how to post a pic of a strange looking black powder pocket gun, so send "help"
