Welcome. From where in NC? My mom retired from Florida (where I am) to Franklin, over in the west end. I love that area, and was just up there about a month or so ago.
Only thing that bugged me was having to keep disarming and re-arming, depending on where I was and where I was going. NC's prohibited-places list is more extensive than ours, but I hear y'all are workin' on that.

Yeah, we are working on our carry laws for the better. I am actually in the Piedmont section of the state about 15 miles west of Charlotte.
Went to school at Western Carolina University (Culowhee, NC) so I know the area your mom moved to pretty well. Beautiful country up there and good people also.

I, probably like many others, came across this site while doing the research on a gun container/safe/RSC (note how my knowlege has increased based on the terminology I've been exposed to on this forum!). I'm pretty much decided on an AMSEC BF6636 and am now searching for the best price.

Hey Guys, this is my first post to thr. glad to be here. I am very new to reloading and just had my first session of testing some handloads. I am hooked- especially after shooting the best group of my life with ammo I made myself. very satisfing... one problem... My experience shows that a hot barrel shoots erratically [this is a hunting rifle- not varmint or heavy barrel].
I came up with a solution that I would like to share. I carry a cooler of ice with some ziplock bags to the range. after 3-4 shots when the barrel needs to cool off I wrap a ziplock bag with ice cubes over the barrel and move it up and down the barrel. in a couple of mniutes I am ready to shoot with a nice cool barrel... have also tried the reuseable ice packs for the same concept [the flexible kind]. I freeze them in a folded position so they will drape over the barrel. this works well also... be sure to coat the barrel with a heavy gun oil/grease to protect against rust from condensation moisture that forms on the ziplock bag on hot humid days.

Hello Highroadees! I'm a new member who happened on this community because of my interest in points (arrowheads and such). I have about 38 years of Government service, some US Army and some three-letter agencies that I best not mention in an open forum where anything and anyone can be searching for God-Knows-What. I enjoy talk about almost anything and really like "troll-free zones". I use to be over at the 24-Hour Campfire website where the trolls have taken over my most favorite sites. Best to leave when the BS gets too deep. I hike around the southeast corner of Arizona which is where we (wife included) hang out most of the time. Love to shoot big guns (read cannon). I have many in my inventory but get the most fun out of a 1.20 inch (30mm) rifled bronze napolean front-loader. Also enjoy hunting and fishing and on those rare rainy days, I can be found in my machine shop creating things for myself and for sale. I have built breech-loading cannon and front-loaders just for fun. My latest project was/is a sundial cannon. Yep, that's right, you can set it to fire a black powder blank at almost anytime of the day during daylight hours of course. I will post a picture of it when I am done. This one is in honor of my recently deceased Dad, who enjoyed the same hobbies and was a great engineer in his own right. He can be credited with making the GAU-8 gatling gun on the A-10 work right. As sort of a warm-up, I would like to ask if there are any members who know much about the US Springfield Model 1816 flintlock? I have one made by Simeon North and it is dated 1826. It is rifled and browned. The gun has a patchbox on the right side of the stock. Under a piece of old paper is the notation, "Alamo 19" in dark brown ink in an old style of handwriting. The rifle came out of Mexico and I will post a pic if anyone is interested. Gotta go, have a good one!

Not quite new, per say, in the "brand spanking" sense of the word, but never noticed this thread before. I'm a fairly regular joe, live down in Dixie but am just making the transition to city life. Worked in the mills for a time, till work dried-up. Do a little security work now-a-days...

I prefer my guns of steel and wood. Owned Henrys because it was the Poor South and that's a working man's gun, so still drool over these new-fangled firearms with fancy accessories like

I'm Steven, 62, Viet Nam combat Marine, Retired. I live in Alaska and am enjoying the clean air, hunting and fishing, loading and shooting, and fantastic scenery. I joined this forum to add my 2 cents worth to the discussions, and of course, to learn. I shoot my pistols and rifles regularly at the range, mostly my 30-06 and 223 target rifles. I enjoy loading different bullets, different powders, different primers, in different cases to find what my rifles like. My fav assault weapon is my Sig 556. I shoot about 3 days per week and love every minute of it.

I did just order a Remington 1858 C&B pistol and am looking forward to experiencing some black powder fun. Lots of good information out here to peruse.

My name is Brad, and I'm from the great state of Mississippi. I am a former police officer and emergency communications manager. I am currently serving as a bivocational pastor and a school librarian. I vigorously support the right to keep and bear arms, and I think well-trained teachers should be allowed to keep firearms in school. I am a shooting enthusiast, but not a competitor (too old, shaky arms, and bad eye-sight). Up until recently, I only owned wheel guns and a few long guns for hunting. In 2012, I bought my first AR-15 and absolutely love it! I've recently moved into the world of semi-auto pistols, and am learning my way around them. In my gun cabinet (right now) 30-30 Mossberg, K-38 S&W, pre-10 S&W, two 36 S&Ws, a Mossberg 12ga, Taurus PT92AF, S&W M&P9, and two Windham AR-15s. The three handguns I most regret selling: Colt Python, S&W 66, and a Beretta .380 (don't remember the model).

Hi everyone. I've been posting for a couple of weeks and just now stumbled onto this thread. I'm 54, a native Texan, married, work as a GIS Analyst in the oil patch. Grew up hunting and fishing. Now I just shoot for recreation and self-defense. I have a very small collection of guns that I'm rebuilding back to where I want it. I really want to start loading my own ammo, so I hope i don't become too big a pest.

I'm new to the site, but not to the sport. I have been hunting, shooting, and hand loading since I was very young. I started shooting at age ten, hunting at age twelve, and hand loading at age sixteen. I am now 65, (oh how it pains me to admit that). I am a hunting guide in Pennsylvania, and was an outfitter and guide in Idaho. I have shot long range bench rest competitions, A.T.A. registered trap ( high 90's average) and shot my way to an Olympic tryout in archery. I am a patriot, and believe in our country, the constitution and the second amendment. I'm a combat veteran and support our troops at all times. Well that's enough horn blowing. I'm glad to be a member and am willing to help other members if and when I can. Keep the faith and God Bless America, and America Bless God Again.

My name is Kimberley. I'm the Marketing/Social Media/Customer Service diva for Iconic Industries.....lol. We are a family owned manufacturing effort, and it should be noted that unlike some we are not new to firearms.
Our R&D facility is burning some midnight oil working out the final details on a new line of 80 percent machined billet lowers (DPMS/LR .308, AR-10 & AR-15) (Billet AK, 10-22 and others to follow) as well as other innovative firearm parts and accessories. (To all our Brothers and Sisters in CA, God Bless and keep your chins up......we have some ideas which may keep the AR platform alive even if the Governor signs those malicious "laws" in to effect.)
Our target release date is mid October.
Albeit, there seems to be a glut of manufacturers new to the market, but we have confidence that our products are going to satisfy those with a thirst for something different.
We will have a WWW and Facebook site open shortly. Pre-production pictures and details will be available one week before we have shippable inventory (Can't give the copy-cats too much lead time...lol).
And we will be traveling the show circuit as much as possible, so I hope to meet lots of you in person.
