Johnny Guest:

New Mexico now honors the CHL's from the great state of Texas.

Come visit, and come packing!

And another Huzzah!

The bill passed.:D

Now all we need is an autograph from the Gov.

NM Update

At 10:37 pm on March 16, 2007, the Senate passed House Bill 588 which allows concealed carry into businesses that sell alcohol for off-premesis consumption. (Mostly grocery and convenience stores.) Facilitites that sell alcohol for on-premesis consumption are still off limits. Please write the Governor and encourage him to sign the bill.

Re the reciprocity question: I think that has been addressed in the last year. It is my understanding that several states, including Colorado and Texas, now have reciprocity with NM. Being a Native Texan myself, I have a strong interest in that subject!:) A quick check at Packing.org would probably confirm that.

Even though we still need to continue to modify this situation to allow us to carry in decent restaurants (maybe a Texas style 51% rule, or better yet a law allowing you to carry just so long as you aren't drinking), this is a huge step forward.

Thanks to all who called their representatives/senators, and even though Bill Richardson is trying to position himself as the "pro-gun Democrat" for his Presidential run it wouldn't hurt to contact him and urge him to sign HB588 into law.
