I stopped by my LGS and as soon as I walked in the guys all smiled and said, "We have a new N-Frame here; figured you would like it."

It is a 3" 625-3 Model of 1989 in .45 ACP. It lacks the original stocks but is in great shape. I paid more than I wanted to, but it is one of the revolvers I was hoping to find (657-4 MG next, I hope). The stocks actually feel good...better than the S&W Combats or Hogues that normally came on these things.

Man, that is a sweet looking revolver.
Those grips are interesting. I don’t think I have ever seen those Pachmayr grips. I have seen the all rubber and all wood but not this model.

I hope it’s a fine shooter.

Awesome revolver.

I like the fact I can use moon clips and auto rim cases. Additionally, I can load .45 ACP without clips; of course I will have to pull the empties out 1 at a time then.

THAT is a sweet find! And kudos to your local store for remembering your tastes in revolvers .

I’ve seen a few of those Pachmayr grips on revolvers, they made a similar for 1911 autos, too.

I’d love one of my local stores to stash a beauty like that behind the counter and wait for me to pop in. I have to stumble upon decent used guns strictly by chance :(.

Let us know how it shoots for you when you get an opportunity to hit the range.:)

Stay safe.,

Nice looking revolver. I have been known to find S&W ACP revolvers a pleasant pursuit. So far, I have not found a lugged version but the ones with the tapered barrels seem to follow me home.

Kevin

Also the ones with sawed-off barrels, right?

Love seeing that unmarred, lockless space above the cylinder release.

Sw has no idea the sales revolution and morale boost they would see if all the new ones came like that with a same cost lock option a customer could select if they want one.

Wouldn't that be something if S&W were to actually listen to their customer base and see how much we truly detest and could happily do without that ugly little lock!

Elegant revolver and what a superb CC piece. A range report please, DR.

I have a Smith 25-2 1955 Target that I get out to the range from time to time...but seldom use the half moon clips with it...much prefer the Auto-Rim cases for their ease of ejection. I use the same loads in the Auto-Rims as in my .45 ACP cases, detinned for my 1911's (and one lonely Sig P220). Good find! Rod

You are right. I will not buy a new S&W due to the internal lock but I do buy the old ones.

I have a Milt Sparks PMK made for one of my 3" 657's that works perfectly with this revolver. I am using it for my LEOSA qualification next week.

I used my 625-3 for my LEOSA qualification shoot today. Kept everything in the 10 ring; it shoots nice. Added benefit was that brass cleanup took 3 seconds. Now I have my concealed carry gun for the “progressive” states who restrict onboard ammo. I am glad I can carry hollow points in NJ as well.

They come out of mine so easily that I don't bother using moonclips at the range.

That is a very fine revolver. Congratulations!
