I can't believe that reporter is a native Texan. Must be a transplant from Massachusetts, or New York City, or San Francisco.

More to the point, it had been reported previously that a detective arrived in time to witness the shooting. What has NOT been reported is what the detective reported that he saw. I think I'm probably not alone in wanting to see that report.

As noted in the other thread, I figured he was sort of eager for an excuse to take a shot at someone.

Sounded to me as though he was eager to have something done about the burglars and thieves who were breaking, entering, and stealing in broad daylight.

As also pointed out in the other thread, a plain reading of Texas law has him completely in the clear as it relates to lethal force and burglary, even of a third party's house.

old man got himself all excited and talked himself into screwing up. i hope all the folks who aree so "behind him all they way" pony up to help thiis man saklvage his life hes screwed

I'm not discounting the emotional turmoil which comes after taking human lives, even lives of burglars, thieves, and quite possibly, violent thugs.

Burglary is a felony. Texas law provides for lethal force to stop a felony in progress. Apparently, Mr. Horn even warned the buglars to stop ("move and you're dead"); it is entirely possible that the burglars then decided to approach Mr. Horn and his loaded shotgun - perhaps not the wisest course of action.

All the armchair speculators coming down on the side of burglars caught in the act is rather sickening.

Mr. Horn said they entered his yard and came at him. Now we find that they were shot in the back. I still want to read the plain clothes officer's report of what he witnessed. And I would like to know if the bad guys' bodies were in Mr. Horn's yard, or the neighbor's yard. I believe the reports were that one of them ran a short distance before collapsing, but the other presumeably dropped where he was shot. I'd like to know where he dropped.
