Picked up my new CZ75D PCR this morning. Of course first thing to do is to field strip, lubricate, de-burr, inspect, test with dummy rounds & snap caps, This I do with every new to me pistol, new or used.
The pistol impressed me. First, it was well and properly lubricated. No excess anywhere, but light grease where it was needed.
The feed ramp needed no work, it was nicely polished and very smooth. Lock up was tight with ever so slight movement of the barrel in lockup at the front. (perhaps 0.001.5")
Trigger pull was heavy and gritty, in full DA (hammer all the way down) then after perhaps 50 dry fires with a snap cap, it smoothed out and was just a bit heavy. DA pull after a de-cock, (note, CZ 75 pistols de-cock to the half cock notch about 30% back from all the way down.) improved greatly also. Still a bit heavy, but no worse than my S&W revolvers. SA trigger pull started out heavy & gritty and again after perhaps 100 dry fires with a snap cap it smoothed out and was much lighter and cleaner, not a 1911 trigger but pretty good, now 4 1/2 lbs. Feeding with dummy ammo was flawless, even when I deliberately slowed down the slide.
Pistol weight with loaded 15 rd mag +1 was 35 oz. The same as my aluminum frame Springfield compact 1911 with 8+1.
Sights seem to be OK, tomorrow will tell when I take it to my local range with a couple of boxes of ammo.
The pistol fits my hand like my Browning hi powers did but without pinching my trigger finger, controls are readily accessed but still a bit stiff, I assume they will smooth out with a few hundred rounds through the pistol.
Overall, I am a bit impressed and pleased so far. It I can perforate tne center of my targets tomorrow with it, I will be highly pleased.
Many changes to come in the near future as I work on this soon to be EDC pistol.

Congratulations on your new PCR. A fine weapon. If you are into improvements check out cajun gun works.

I enjoy the pistol, but it is a bit chunky for carry (perhaps because I'm a bit chunky). Very well made and I enjoy the decocking option. I believe it will give you excellent service.

Now I must check to see whether my PCR is missing. .......Glad that you "saw the light".
Despite some limited grittiness when shooting mine in DA from the decocked hammer position, the other characteristics certainly compensate.

Czech gun engineers are impressive. My curiosity also led to a (milled) Czechpoint VZ-58 in early 2019. Such a well-designed action, nice rifle.

Nice pickup .

Is the trigger action area one that can be accessed and smoothed or is it one that can really only be helped through use? (like you’ve been doing.) CZ makes such good stuff I’m surprised the trigger action was gritty to start.

Once you get it out to the range, show us how it shot for you :).

Stay safe.

I carry the same pistol quite often. I totally recommend Cajun Gun Works - they can turn your single action trigger into something every bit as nice as a 1911.... if you so desire. I have the full size 75 also, but the Compact seems balanced much better. I leave a Kadet .22 conversion slide on the full sized 75, just because I like shooting the Compact so much. Enjoy your new toy - it's a fine one.

120 +/- rounds downrange today. A mix of factory JHP, reloaded JHP, reloaded LSWC & reloaded LTC. All fed & fired flawlessly, Pistol seems to be quite accurate, if I do my job. Did move the sights to the left about .020" to center the group. Taking some advice & replacing some springs & pins to help the trigger pull both DA & SA. Also ordered a set of Tritium night sights. IMHO a requirement for an EDC or home defense pistol.

The "grittiness" word I use for a gun's DA pull might not be accurate.

Maybe > slightly< irregular, perceived "stacking" (tension increase) might be a better description for my 100% stock PCR?

I'm not very well-trained or 'fluent' in the appropriate words for most handgun characteristics.

Congrats on the new CZ! I made the same Hi-Power connection as you did the first time I held a P01 in my hand!

Looks like an excellent find! I have to admit that the one and only time I've ever fired a CZ, it was a CZ 75D Compact (if memory serves). It was one of the few guns I've ever shot that gave me a "wow, now I get it" kind of moment. I definitely have one on The Want List.

Excellent pistol! I tried cc with mine, but went back to my PPS for everyday which is lighter and thinner and less tiring to carry. Think the loaded chamber indicator is great on the pcr, it's a great gun.

Took the PCR to my monthly Manatee club 600 yd rifle practice. When finished clanging the 600 yd steel, went to the pistol range to test the new springs (M Carbo) and the zero of the new Meprolight tritium sights.
Springs helped the trigger pull significantly and worked properly. New sights were centered in my shop where I though they should be and they were dead on both horizontally and vertically ( ! ). Much better sight picture than the original sights too. Accuracy of the pistol is impressive for a 3 1/2" barrel and 5 1/2" sight radius. Appears to be money well spent.

Interesting difference in the rear sight configuration between the op's and your pistols, bannockburn. velocette's pistol, like mine, has the "low drag" rear sight version as opposed to the "75 B" style sight. CZ certainly has a host of variants and different style offerings in the same basic platform.

The P01 variant has the standard rear sight. The PCR variant has the sloped rear.

Congrats on the PCR, @velocette !

I have one as well. It had a tritium front sight on it, but now it has a fiber optic up there. I installed the longer P01 slide release lever to aid my short thumb reach. The internals are all stock. The trigger definitely smooths up the more you shoot it or dry fire it.

The PCR, for future reference shares the same dovetail cut as the regular CZ 75.

The gritty feeling is typically from the trigger bar. They can range from nicely machined to angry beaver level of machine work on the trigger bar.

The sides rub against the frame and rear portion rubs on the sear cage.

I got 2 PCRs and one rare steel framed compact decocker they are IMO one of CZs best pistols.
