Rifles, shotguns or accessories that I want after seeing them at the 2010 SHOT show.

1. Thomspon Center ICON ... very smooth action, short throw bolt, three position safety, three locking lugs, integral scope bases (picatinny rail), interchangeable bolt handle, corrosion resistant coating .... very impressive rifle and I want one.

2. FN SCAR 17S (.308 Win.) Why anyone wouldn't want this rifle is beyond me. The thing is friggin' amazing!!

3. Glock 22 (Gen. 4) .40 cal ... great pistol!!

4. Benelli M4 semi-auto shotgun and possibly their carbine which has the same gas piston system.

5. Badger Ordnance M2008 short action ... as close to an AI action as one could want. A good choice for anyone looking to build an AI clone with an AICS stock.

6. Zeiss Victory Compact point and Zeiss Victory Z-point ... both seem to be ideally suited to M1A Scout rifles or Marlin .45-70 rifles with zero magnification but an easy to see red dot. I particularly like the Compact point model.

7. Vltor M1A/M14 stock (rigid, ergonomic and kind of funny looking but I liked it).

8. ACR (possibly)

9. Barret 98 Bravo in .338 Lapua. The action is very smooth and fast, great ergonomics, minimalist in design. I'd love to own one.

10. New Premier Reticles 1.1 - 8x scope. Very clever feature of a red dot from 1.1x to 2.5x (IIRC), then a mil dot reticle from 2.5x to 8x.

:)

Til March, assuming you're willing to pay anyways. Even Hitler isn't willing to deal with it though haha.

There is a bunch of stuff that just got onto my Want List during this shotshow.

Rhino revolver: I have know about these for many years, but only recently saw that they were being imported.

The fact that I have not bought an AR15 yet is astonishing, but this one just turns my crank.

That Pony Express pushes all the right buttons for me, I fondly remember loving the toy Cap Guns like that when I was a kid.

Yep ... I checked out the ACR two days in a row and quite like it. The charging handle remains stationary as the bolt cycles, there's an ambidextrous (push down) bolt release in front of the trigger guard but no forward assist. At first glance it looks like the SCAR and their are many similarities. The barrel swap feature of the ACR may be a big deal to some. Remington also had a couple of gas piston ARs on display with a cool integral upper receiver and handguard.

I'd like to see an in-depth, head-to-head comparison of the ACR and the SCAR.

I was hoping to see some Noveske stuff but they weren't at the show as far as I could tell. They weren't listed in SHOT show Directory and Buyer's Guide and no one I spoke to remembered seeing them.

:)

I'm leaning towards the view that the ACR is more money for less gun than the SCAR -- to match the features on the SCAR you've got to go with the $3000-ish dollar ACR, and even then you're still getting a pretty worthless 1-9 twist, non-chromed barrel. I'm doubting anything built by Bushmaster for the commercial market is going to match an FN product that's been through the testing and development to get it USGI and . . . so . . . I just don't think the ACR as delivered to market has any more business in a head to head comparison with the SCAR than a Bushmaster AR has going up against a Colt 6920, etc.

Sadly, I think Hitler was right on this one . . .

HorseSoldier, I'd take the 17S in a heartbeat over the ACR. The SCAR felt a lot more robust and battle ready than the ACR plus it's available in .308 Win. Personally, I think that the SCAR is an outstanding rifle and one that I'd like to own once they become available (17S model). The only downside is that the 17S uses a proprietary magazine (according to the FN rep).

:)

I had the chance to do some range work with a USGI Mk16 SCAR before I got out of the .mil and I was pretty impressed with the 5.56mm version. The 17 looks like a real strong entry into the 308 black rifle market from what I've read about it, though I haven't seen one in person yet.

by the way, EMA's tactical carbine conversion kit is nfa right?

Without a doubt. Well, the handgun would be anyway, not the kit itself.

Whatever handgun you're using would have to have a tax stamp for SBR before you could use the kit.
