NEW RCBS single stage press

$210 at Midway, out of stock until end of February.

I can see why nobody else does it this way; with the handle at the top, you have the added leverage of the column trying to either twist the base loose or tip the bench over. Marketing guys overruled the engineers...needed something new to push.

Actually, there would be less chance of pulling out the mounting screws since some are in front of the press column and you would have bench legs in front of the press limiting the chance of turning over the bench. Similar loading on the bench as would be seen with a Dillon Strong Mount.

There is nothing like having an o-frame press cantilevered out over the front of the bench.

You have your leverages mixed up. What you need are two more mounts at the far end of the base. Far as in further away from the edge of the bench. I have a sliding wood clamp mounted on a 3/4" pipe. Slide the part with the handle up under the bench top and give it a twist. Now the tipping force is resisted by the pipe. I've seen guys actually break up a concrete floor and concrete a section of pipe to support the bench. That's kind of overkill...

It looks like a real good idea to me. You are pushing the dies down instead of pushing the cases up. It looks like it should provide smooth operation for larger cases.

The top mounted handle is reminiscent of the Bonanza Coax press.

And nobody ever complained about them tipping over benches or anything.

In fact they have been very highly rated presses for a very long time.

I am the only reloader than can verify the ability of press to restore a case to minimum length/full length size. I have 2 presses that are guaranteed not to flex. To use one of them I am required to remove a Dillon 550B press or a Rock Chucker or a Herters turret, or a Super 3 etc.. flexing does not lock me up, I am the fan of using new and or once fired cases, after that the case gains resistance to sizing to minimum length, again, returning a case to minimum length is not always necessary if the reloader knows how to adjust dies.

esheato! I started a thread on this press 4 days ago here! Now 4 days later, no one posted to it....nada! Only 109 members has even looked....the same as you have 24 hours later! Hmmmmm, I need to use more deodorant I guess.:uhoh:

MidSouth shooters had it listed and back-ordered first, but their "coming" in-stock date is ........LAST OCTOBER! $208 there.

It seems pricey for a press that appears to be smaller than the Rock Chucker Supremo.

Observations on complaints above:
  • I think the ridge-back on the moving die holder must be a key-way to prevent twisting.
  • The method of pressing die downward into the case is right out of Dillon 1050'ese. Nobody complains about it on that one.
  • My guess is engineering finally got one past marketing, fielding a light but strong press that uses little foot print and may be a breeze to mount on a steel plate and runners for to pull out and take to the range with you.
  • And...just may be the perfect solution for another existent problem. Apartment dwellers may just find this concept to be a godsend.
Shades of Bonanza/Forster, yup! But with screw in dies (but still able to add Hornady bushings), and One big ram (that doesn't ram anything) instead of two little ones, that people have broken.

The only weakness I see is the top brackets that hold the linkage. Looks smallish! But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. They've been making some excellent products.
Which BTW, surely someone might be interested in the OTHER products announced by RCBS for 2113.....especially the NEW Universal Case Prep Center! Go back and look at my Thread....its there too.

What I want to know with that new tool is whether the 3-way cutter will work with it. Two tools on one footprint....that's another good solution to the same existent problem for many....limited bench space!

The thing I notice first is the handle movement will be much more than a conventional press. The two pics show press up/press down. Looks like 180degree handle motion. A Rockchucker has what....90degrees? That would add a lot of unnessesary motion to the operation IMO.

Sorry about that. I perused the top 10-15 posts in Reloading before submitting it.

Looks like the perfect solution to a non existent problem to me.

I felt the same way, but wanted to get some unbiased opinions.

Maybe it'll catch some guys who like the BR arbor press system. Don't know that'll do much in standard dies and rifles though...
