It's smooth and tight. Chamber is minimum, so there is a little resistance closing even on an empty FL resized case. I'm still working up a load, but in testing I've got 0.25MOA 3-shot groups at 200 meters (that's 0.5" center to center).

It's a 50BMG rifle based on a McMillan repeater action (5-round magazine) and stock, built by GA Precision. Barrel is 29". Rings are Badger Ordnance, scope is a Nightforce 5.5-22x56mm NXS mildot. The gun weighs in the mid 30 lbs.

The standard target load is a 750gr AMAX loaded with 215 - 230gr of H50BMG powder and a cartridge over-all length of about 5.5" for a muzzle velocity of around 2625 - 2700fps. For "fun" and plinking, mil-surp AP, API, APIT, tracers, and incendiary bullets can be loaded.

Schuey2002,

I sometimes get bruised when I shoot magnum slugs through my Benelli. The 50's recoil is less painful than those. Remember, it's a 30-some lb gun, with a decent muzzle brake, and a recoil pad over an inch thick. I could shoot 50 rounds a day no problem.. the question is, can I afford to?

Very nice... ;) Only .25 MOA? I thought those McMillan .50's were supposed to be accurate? :uhoh:

-kidding of course, I couldn't shoot a laser that well at 200M.:D

Finally got a good COAL gauge, measured distance from bolt face to lands, and got my OAL figured out: 5.640" for the 750gr AMAX. I'm currently at 222gr H50BMG for about 2530fps; I'll work it up to about 2600fps. I'm getting pretty consistent 0.5 - 0.65 MOA three groups at 220 yards. I think the gun can do 5-shot groups of that size, but I usually pull one out to about 1MOA.

Zak - what's the finish on that barrel? Is it parkerized or coated? That's a great looking muzzle break, by the way... ah Hell, that's an impressive looking setup overall!
