So the other day I was reloading a few boxes of 6.5 swede's and then later some 243s. And I had a thought on a wild cat round that sounded good to me but honestly i wouldn't have the first clue as how or even were to start. Anyway my thought was to take the 6.5x55 case and neck it down to a .243 caliber bullet then use a heavier bullet for a 243 like the nosler competition 105gr BT HP or possibly the Barnes Triple-Shock X 80 Bullets and maybe somewhere in the area of 42gr of imr 4350 put it on an ar platform with maybe a 24 or 20 inch bull barrel and a gas block system. I think it would be one hell of a varmint rifle/round. So what is the process and what do yall think, I'm open for criticism as it was my hairbrainded money spending idea of the week :D so lets hear it.

It would be very close to the 6mm Rem, a 6 mm bullet in a case based on the 7x57/257 Rbts which is ~1mm longer then the Swede case.
Performance would be slightly better then the 243 but not by much IMO

Yeah, way too close to the 6mm rem, if you want something with a but more punch try necking 06 brass down to 6mm, the extra case capacity gives it a big leg up on the 243 for pushing heavier bullets. But the best wildcat I have ever seen is a 6.5-06 which trumps the 25-06, 280 rem and 270 win in every single measure of performance it nips at the heels of the 264 win mag without eating barrels for lunch and using cheap readily available brass. That is probably my next build.
