found a GP-100 today, went into my little gun shop just poking around, and what do i see? a GP-100(been looking really hard at the Match champion but cant find one to save my life). i get my hands on it and its looking like a stainless 4.5in barrelled gp-100, fits great and get it otd for 590ish.

start looking closer at it, its a KGP-151, measure the barrel and its 5in. try and do some looking into it and it looks like a special run? anyone have any info on that model?

I really like the way it fits and cant wait to get to the range.

I have seen the 5" guns around. Ruger makes batches of these every so often.

My uncle actually bought a KGP-151 a couple years ago by mistake, he was wanting a KGP-161 actually. I immediatly noticed the barrel looked shorter on his gun than on my own KGP-161, and sure enough "KGP-151" was on the box.

The 5" bbl guns are great all purpose revolver for when you want a little "more" but don't want the (some say excessive) bulk and muzzle heaviness of the KGP-161.

For me personally, I'm looking into a KGP-141. The 4" bbl guns are the best length for a "fighting" or "service" revolver IMHO.

I have not done any comparisons except with my 3", but the 5" barrel (KGP-151) is wonderfully balanced and is my bullseye gun. It is also j-u-s-t short enough to carry on a good day, crossdraw.

It has taken awhile to source holsters for it, but they are out there, primarily Simply Rugged. If forced into a 6" holster, one might as well be carrying a 6" barrel.
