So I'm looking at upgrading the scope on my .223. I use the gun primarily for punching paper at 100 yards. I have narrowed it down to two models the Leupold VX-3 Long Range Target 6.5-20x50 with the 30 mm tube which would be a match for the scope on my .308. The other is the Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 and the 4.5-14x50.
The Conquest only has a one inch tube, so is the 50mm objective worth the extra $50 and (most likely) taller mounts. There are several stores around here that carry Zeiss, but none of them have enough selection to be able to compare them side by side.
