Here is the Weaver Grand Slam 5x20x50 EBX Varmint mounted on a CZ 452. DLP rail and Burris Medium rings. Next is sighting it in, which should be a blast. :gun4::Blasting_:D
This setup is just clearing the barrel with the scope and still gives me over 3/8" of clear space on the bolt. ;)

I tested the Weaver Grand Slam 5x20x50 EBX Varmint on my CZ 452 has made my groups of 10 rounds a lot smaller then before from the same ammo, from the same bricks. I have tested 17 different types of .22LR that my rifle would like at a good price per round. After installing the GS I think I will have to start all over because the results yesterday with 3 of the same brands were different then the results I had with my Nikon 3x9x40 Target EBX. I now can set the power level up at 50 yards and see the target better which I think has helped my control. The EBX Varmint retical is real nice to see the center of the target and the small dot by itself is just great. I will start my testing again when I can get some good weather with out 15 to 30 mph winds. I had one group Wolf Target that is .377". The biggest group of 19 groups of 10 was .970". That was some 7 cent Rem 711B

Nice setup . I am still trying to figure out how I want to setup my 452 American . I don't know if I want to make it a squirrel gun or a target rifle . The wood is so nice and I have other .22's I would hate scratching it up in the woods , but I would probably get over it once the squirrels started stacking up and come supper time .

red rick Get a good AO scope first off, I made the mistake of going with a 180 buck scope and it performed like one.

I love those Grand Slam scopes, optics are fantastic for the price. And the Varmint EBX reticle is awesome. Too bad Weaver is discontinuing the current line.

The GS 4-16x44 is also perfect for CZ hog back guns because it's very compact considering the power range, and short enough to mount LOW and behind the rear sight. I removed my rear sight leaf because I wanted the scope absolutely as low as possible, and a little further forward to make it fit me perfectly. Mounted this way, my scoped hog backs actually fit/feel better to me than my Americans.

Here's a comparison between the hog backs and the straight-stocked Americans in terms of how high the center line of the scope is above the comb. The internet "wisdom" that CZ hog back guns aren't suitable for scopes is apparently propagated by people who haven't tried a low-mounted scope. You just have to choose a scope that works - one that's not too long, and doesn't have an ocular OD that is too large. But going to the trouble of matching things up is well worth the effort.

i6turbo thanks for the info, how is the rectal for hunting?
I haven't actually hunted with my V-EBX, but I wouldn't hesitate to do so. It seems to me that the dot is big enough for hunting, small enough for target shooting. I happen to also have the same scope with the Dual-X on my "hunting" gun, the top photo above. That is, to the extent that I do any hunting. The vast majority of my shooting is targets and what some would call plinking, but I seem to always get serious about trying to shoot as accurately as possible, so I'm not sure if that's plinking, or target shooting. :)

I shot 10 different types today with the new scope, shot a round of ten and then two rounds of 20, pulled the snake. Started with the low cost stuff first. Didn't get any real good rounds. One happy note the GECO 22 LR (.06 per rd) had a adverage group on the two twenty rounds of .686" :D Again Rem Thunderbolt had it usual 1.94" adverage. followed by MP 22 -1.83", CCI Blazer -1.41", Win. HV Hollow Point -1.35", CCI Green Tag -1.22" ( for the cost this Sucks, .13 per rd), Win 36 gr Hollow Point - 1.19", Fuciiha SV -.899" and Aguilia SE- .870. Next I need to look at the Standard Deviation, Adverage FPS and spread from my chronograph. This will give me facts on the ammo fired, some of the bad numbers may have been me??
Only good thing is the good types are coming next :gun4: :bthumb:

I have had really good results with Wolf Match Extra in my 453 Varminter. By far better than anything else, including some much more expensive match ammo.

I had the same results in my 60 and 10/22 with the Wolf Match Extra .
